Last year, 2012, in 4 preseason games, the Rams yielded an average of 23 pts/game, which ranked them 23rd in the NFL.

This year, 2013, so far in 2 preseason games, the Rams have yielded an average of 23 pts/game, which ranked them 23rd in the NFL.

Well, at least Fisher is consistent. Maybe it's all part of his system.

I realize that various factors played a role in the 2011 Rams' season, but man, that preseason had my hopes so high up, then after the 1st play by Jackson, everything felt liea kick in the nuts.

Not sure you're grasping the concept.

This stat suggests that the fear that the Rams D has regressed is a bit overblown.

Doh. You're right. I read that wrong. I thought you were talking about the offense.
I didn't see the word "yielded" correctly. I took it as meaning "netted."

M'bad.

Exactly why I'm not worried. These preseason games are huge for TJ McDonald and Alec Ogletree. They look slightly lost at times. Hoping to see them play better, smarter, faster in the regular season.

Humans.

netted : past participle, past tense of net (Verb)
Acquire or obtain: "they netted a huge profit".

I agree these games are great for them, but when teams start actual game planning, etc., they will work to take advantage of their lack of experience. And once the regular season starts everyone plays as a faster level. It's tough, you either: (1) play someone with more experience that may not be your best option while working them into the rotation and allowing them to gain the needed experience. Or, (2) you roll the dice, let them play through their growing pains because they are the best option. It's obvious that we will go with option 2. I also suspect that Fisher/Walton will work to limit putting Ogletree and McDonald "On an Island" through their own game planning. The first four games of the regular season will be interesting, especially with Dunbar sitting out.

I thought the exact same thing, I was just thinking "Wait how is that possible we haven't scored 23 points this season."

:boing: first thing I thought was where the heck does he get that we averaged 23 points from :boing: then went back and read it again. Maybe he changed the word after we read it. :what: :lmao:

Not worried about our D. But the tackling has bothered me a little.

I think the more salient question should be,who uses "yielded " besides max ? I mean yields can be either positives or negatives so the original post was sort of ambiguously worded.

For a farmer a yield is a positive thing and offensive efforts yield points so even though I GOT max's original intent it's probably because I've deciphered many of his posts over the years and still think the designated driver should have taken better care of his car.

Maybe it's like...the illuminati, man. :shifty:

It's seems as though they've kept it pretty vanilla the past couple of games, and just added a wrinkle or two on Saturday.

Fisher is also the master of 8-8 seasons.

I hate to point that out... but just saying.

Yeah.. true. But he did bring a team to the Super Bowl, so that's encouraging. I still think Fisher is one of the best coaches out there. He's one smart guy.

Who was the better candidate before the 2012 season?

8-8 is hella better than 2-14 anyway.
