Faulk is too football smart not to have a coaching position if he wants one. Hope he gets a shot at it ...

Great players do not necessarily make great coaches. Good luck Marshall.

I believe I read something years ago where Martz said that Marshall would make a good head coach. I think it was Sporting News? Sorry I do not have a link.

Agreed, especially if they bypass the whole rising thru the ranks bit, like being a coordinator or an assistant coach first.

I always thought Marshall was football smart enough to be a good coach, but didn't know if he had the fire in the belly to do it. Most guys starting out in coaching have to work obcenely long hours for little pay and a lot of moving around to advance up the ranks. He seemed content working on game days in front of the camera until that ended for him... Normally former players just don't step into a HC job at a University, maybe a High School first? Hope he can do it successfully.

I agree, but in this case I think analytical type personalities like Marshall has the higher percentage chance of succeeding. I’ll be rooting for him.

Working at NFL network for so long only makes it that much easier. He Will hire the right coaching staff & be able to recruit well.He also isn’t at a Big Time College so he will put a Big Footprint on that University.
Marshall is & one of the smarter players to play the game. His game management will be except exceptional. Times have changed as well.

He will just add to the black coaching field who are in that position.
Recruiting & Mentoring Will be a huge quality he brings.

I really don’t feel it has anything to do with Black, White, Hispanic, Asian or anything else. It’s a lot more in-depth and complicated than the brain conversation of “ diversity”. Guys football IQ is off the charts and I have a damned good feeling he has an eye for talent to.

I dont think you learn the x's and o's at a cushy NFL network job. Just being great at football doesnt mean he can coach it

It's a good move for him. He had a great tv gig until he blew it with loutish behaviour. Given the cancel climate, he wouldn't find another TV opportunity in the foreseeable future. Hopefully he can start a successful third chapter.

Say what you want. History will play itself out. I don’t doubt Marshall’s football IQ.I think he will be a better HC than Eddie George & Deion Sanders. The presence is being set.
I wish him the best.Hopefully they all give back something special to the game & players being better young men through there experience.

Think what you want man. What I know is the time he spent there advanced his level of the game.He put in quality time. I know Muc wanted to bring football back to UCSF.I look back at George Allen & know The Big West would have been different today if he didn’t die when he did. —You have your opinion & you can be a doubter & a Hater. Those other HOF guys are getting there chance.Who knows if Marshall even gets the job. That’s the first thing that has to happen.I know the player Marshall was & the person he is. I don’t DOUBT him! First class all the way.

A hater? The heck you talking about? Throw out some names of guys who successfully went from the playing field to the booth, to Head coach without any coaching experience.
I'll wait....

I'll never forget when he was with the Rams, I often said, it was like having an extra coach on the field. I remember one game, the Rams had the ball near the end of the half without any time outs. Marshall was running around picking guys up off the ground and getting them lined up to run the next play.

It is a great question. Aside from a Player/Coach in the old pre-merger NFL, who has actually gone from being a retired player to HC in either the College or Pro ranks? There might be a guy who has done it, but I can't think of one....

I’ll just say there is a reason 3 HOF players are becoming HC in college football. There has never been Comp Picks to hire a Minority as HC or GM’s.
Time will tell Bra’ then you can make your judgment. There is no guarantee,Mike Singletary was a joke of a HC.I’m sure Marshall won’t come in the Lockeroom & pull down his pants in front of his team.
D. Sanders is not the best offensive minded guy Imo.
