This OL is terrible, and nobody on the offensive side is good now ... but:

With Fisher out of the picture now, Boras had no cover. We were going to see if he was held back by Fisher, or if he was really just that bad. Tonight answered that affirmatively ... he really is just that bad. These playcalls, the blocking schemes, the run play design ... just awful, just God awful. And that's what makes it hard to evaluate the talent ... how can you really know when the coaching is just this bad?

Do not get me wrong, I am not saying our talent is great, and we could definitely use some upgrades on the OL and in the WR corps ... but good God, these guys have been coached down to complete failure. Havenstein was actually a bright spot on the OL last year and look at him now ... he was an epic disaster out there tonight and has been bad the whole season.

We have just got an epically bad offensive coaching staff. When I see what a competent coach does with some of these players, i.e. who he keeps as salvagable and who he gets rid of, then we can get a better picture of what we have on offense. But right now, we have a staff that has made every OLinemen from last year markedly worse, has turned last year's rookie of the year into a JAG (and not a very good one at that), and who not only lacks imagination and ability to keep defenses guessing with playcalls, but also does thing that are just colossally stupid (repeated throws on 3rd and 4th down short of the marker, by design ... fade to tiny little Tavon instead of one of your big guys ... etc.).

Could not fix it through free agency or the draft, what's next?
What free agent LT are you getting? Still need help at CB, WR, TE, DE as well. Not enough cap space and only 2 day 2 picks to work with. It's going to be a difficult offseason trying to fill voids.

Fisher has sure has left his successor with a monumental challenge.

OL needs maximum attention this offseason.

If you were supporting Fisher in his last few games, you were objectively wrong. Just want to get that out of the way.

RANT INCOMING

This team has spun its fucking wheels for a decade now. This offense seems no better than it was during the Spags era. In many ways, it's worse. These past 2 seasons have been the worst offensive football in modern NFL history and that might not be hyperbole.

Where has this O-line gone since the days of Goldberg, Bell, and Brown? Scott Wells? Have we improved over these guys by any great measure? Even Havenstein, who is the only starter I have hope for, has regressed significantly since last season. We need an entire new offensive line and at least 2-3 pass catchers. Basically, we need 7 to 8 new offensive starters.

Gurley was right to call this a middle school offense. This team is fucking pathetic. They don't even understand basic offensive concepts. They will need an introductory class in the fucking concepts of offense, and they will need to be beaten over the head repeatedly to understand it.

Fisher would have rather been the "cool step-dad" than be an actual fucking coach. A bunch of immature underdeveloped players who look completely lost the majority of the time they are on the field. This offensive coaching staff doesn't have a fucking clue and neither do the players. I would love for them to somehow see the meeting room of the Saints, Pats, Packers, Cowboys, or any competent offensive team. Their fucking brains would melt.

How many blown blocks, shit routes, bad drops, and other miscues can we see? Colinsworth said something along the lines of "It's astounding the number of drops they have had these last 3 weeks". Pal, try the last 3 years. THAT'S astounding.

This defense played hard at times and tried to keep it close, but even they are not without sin.

Donald, you are too good of a player to be throwing a ref's flag, or your helmet, or doing any other dumb shit like that. The shoulder tackling needs to stop from some of these guys. The stupid penalties need to stop. The blown coverage need to stop.

3rd and long is the easiest down to defend for most teams, for the Rams it is the single hardest concept in the world. Can't get off the field if they had a police escort to the fucking sideline.

We couldn't even beat a shitty 49er team and send them on the path to 0-16. Can't fucking do anything right this season. I'm not sure we win another game this season, and that includes one at home against these same 1 win 49ers. I don't know if beating them or losing to them would piss me off more. If we lose, we got swept by a two win team, if we win, it's not impressive and only begs the question of how they shut us out 28-0 to begin with in week 1.

This team is not as talented as we wish it was.

I am starting to actively hate the sport of football watching this team.

I'm going to go buy bleach and ammonia in bulk now.

First, a competent HC. Next a competent OC. Next, an OL coach that hasn't lost his touch. That will at least help us separate the wheat from the chaff.

These guys could take an OL with Orlando Pace, Tom Mack, Irv Panky, Rich Saul, and Dennis Harrah and make it look terrible.

And I'm convinced you could give Boras the same level of talent that Martz had with the GSOT, and he wouldn't be able to even get them to be in the top 25 offenses in the NFL.

The run play where Bennett is blocked by the TE solo and Gurley got body slammed pretty much sums up Boras. To draw up a play with Bennett being blocked by a TE at the point, non-crackback, is madness. Complete and total fail man. I just gotta hope that they executed it wrong. Because damn. Just damn.

At one point in 2012 the Rams were starting Wayne Hunter, Quinn Ojinnaka, Robert Turner, and Barry Richardson. That line played better than the current one with a bunch of premium draft picks.

100%

Same O-line coach that year, yet this group is worse.

I find myself almost praying that those guys come back.

The weight of the evidence says no ... that's probably Boras's design. Probably thought he could "outsmart" the opposition.
