Itr's important to the legacy of the Rams...Deacon is the real sack leader as we all know, but having AD make the new record is kharmic justice for the Rams!He clearly has a chance. And I’ll bet in his mind it is fairly secondary at this point.
I don’t think AD plays every snap, especially against the Cards and niners. It’s a tough call whether to play a guy that important to the rams post season.

needs three more for most for a DT right ?
If he has a shot at the record. You let the man play.

Important - but not nearly as important ....
Real legacies aren’t built on individual records. They are built on titles.
That's nice and all, but l've been a fan since '69, so the biggest part of being a long time fan for me are records JUST like this. This would be a part of Rams history that will last for a very long time, just as the Fearsome Foursome accomplishments are still revered, They didn't win anything but divisional titles, but it helped fans survive the years. Yes, Super Bowls are most important, but I don't diminish things like this because I survived with accomplishments like this.
We can have both.
AD will play like Merlin Olsen, 15 years with missing nary a game. I would play him, because I have extreme confidence in his durability. AD doesn't get nicked, but the decision is Wades not mine. Both would be nice. However, if you had to choose between the sack record and a title - it would be an easy choice.
Suppose AD is one sack away and it’s week 17 and our playoff seed is locked down. You keeping him out there and risking injury? I’m not sure I am. My eye is on the big prize - and I suspect his is as well.
4 games left. 16.5 sacks.
We have the Bears, Eagles, Cardinals, and 9ers.
He could Donald his way to 4 sacks just between the cardinals and 9ers.
22+ sacks for a DT. Best season by a defensive player.
