i'm going to america for a holiday in september and have booked in the cowboys game into my itinerary. looked to buy tickets from the rams website but they only seem to be selling packages at this stage.

is stubhub the way to go now? and which section is the most family friendly area of the stadium?

also which hotel would be pretty central to everything?

any suggestions on what we can do apart from going to the game and a must go to restaurant would also be appreciated.

thanks for your help in advance.

I guess I would try to buy them off stubhub, but I'm sure that pretty soon the Rams will have single game tickets for sale soon. I would call the ticket number at the Rams and ask them, telling them about the fact that you're coming on an international flight just to see them; I'm sure they will try to accommodate you.

The Rams play downtown, but downtown St. Louis is kind of boring. There are a lot of cool places in that town, but not downtown. If you just want to stay the night and not see the city, I would probably stay at the Lumineer (I think that's the name of it). It's a hotel/casino literally across the street from the stadium. If you are planning on staying more than one night, I would at least try to rent a car or something and go to some of the cooler areas. I would explore Forest Park, go to the Missouri Botanical Gardens, aka Shaw's Gardens (which are considered among the finest botanical gardens in the world), see the Arch, go to the Loop/Central West End/Soulard/downtown Clayton, etc. But if just staying one day, I would got to the Lumineer. It's also near Laclede's Landing which has bars and restaurants.

That's the best advice I can give you.

Agree that Lumiere Place is a good place to stay; or the Drury Inn nearby. There are good spots near Busch Stadium - about 6 blocks south of the Dome - such as the Ballpark Hilton, etc. Really cool rooftop bar there - 360 - and various bars.

The Arch has a Museum of Westward Expansion beneath it, that features the Lewis & Clark Expedition - the 1804 excursion of Thomas Jefferson, to explore what he'd just purchased (the Louisiana Purchase) from France - covers everything from St. Louis all the way to the Pacific Northwest, in an era when news could travel only as fast as the fastest horse. And south of downtown about a mile is the Anheuser Busch Brewery Tour - at one time the world's largest brewery. Includes free samples, good museum, a smattering of Clydesdales, etc. St. Louis is also celebrating its 250th birthday. Excellent exhibit at the Missouri Historical Museum, in Forest Park. Forest Park is maybe 2-3 miles west of downtown; site of the 1904 World's Fair; largest city park in the US apart from Central Park in NYC; site of the zoo, etc. And nearby is the Central West End, with good restaurants, etc.

Fun town to visit, and September should be perfect, with both football and baseball in full swing. And check out Ballpark Village, just outside Busch Stadium. Good bars and restaurants, and the largest flat screen TV I've ever seen; great place to watch the Cards on the road, Blues in the playoffs; and I'll bet on NFL Sundays a gathering place, too.

Everything should be fairly accessible either with Metrolink or a reasonable cab fare. With the Cowboys in town - "America's team" - should be plenty of out-of-towners, too. I'd check StubHub, etc. - could be an appealing game.

Welcome to the ROD Big Unit.

This is a great home for Rams fans and fans in general.
Thanks for the welcome; just posted my introduction. I've been reading for months; haven't posted until I thought maybe I had something to contribute.

Big Jeff Fisher - Les Snead fan. They've had very few mis-steps since they got here.

Welcome to the ROD forum Big Unit. Patience may be your greatest asset, decide on a section price it at all the usual 3rd party outlets EX: Stub Hub, Vivid seats Etc.
Compare the price today to the price in the next couple or few weeks if it rises you may want to buy earlier than later. You will have tickets available on the online ticket agencies all the way up to the game at which time the price can go either way depending on demand (usually increases).
I have included a link to all the Rams game on Vivid they have beat Stub Hub over the last couple events I have attended. That doesn't mean they are always lower but recently 6 mos they were cheaper for a similar seat.

I just booked the Hampton Inn Gateway Arch($126) for the home opener. It is right across the street from the dome. I always stay at the Renaissance Marriott Grand Hotel. For some reason no rooms available. Also grab some tix from stubhub(i have use nfl ticket exchange, nfl.com b4) I am 2nd row end zone for the Minn game! I sat there last year for the Ariz home opener. I fly in and just take a cab to hotel. No need to rent a car. Of course the Arch and the Lewis and Clark museum, bowling h.o.f, Anheuser bush plant, Lumiere casino/hotel are all good things to do.

This is where you can do a verified ticket exchange:

http://www.ticketexchangebyticketmaster.com/NFL/st-louis-rams-tickets/?GCID=1467&keyword=ram tickets

There are tickets available.

The Drury is well reviewed but I've never stayed there.

Also, the Metro (rail system) can get you from airport to 6 blocks from Drury if you want (8th and Pine station).

wow, pricey. we'll be sitting in the nosebleed section anyway. with 5 of us it will just cost too much otherwise. i guess $100 per ticket isn't too bad.

Or you can wait and buy them when they go on sale. There will be tickets available.

TBH with you the last 8 years or so I've always had the best experience with getting the lowest price and the highest quality seat at cheaptickets.com

Can't go wrong with the Drury places. I've spent many a night in the St. Louis underbelly of life. Mafia? It was real!

That's the best advice I can give you.
There is plenty to do downtown, especially for a visitor.

THe Lumiere is a fine suggestion for a hotel. I'd also recommend the Renaissance.

Things to do downtown:
City Museum (not a typical museum, more like a playground for the entire family).
If you like to bowl there is the Flamingo Bowling Alley downtown, pretty neat place.
The Cardinals will be in town that weekend, maybe try to get some tickets for a game there, check out Ballpark Village while your at it.
Check out the Old Court House where the famous Dredd Scott trial was held...or the Old Cathedral if you are interested in religious venues.
The city garden is downtown, it isn't something awe inspiring by any means, but always a nice area to walk through.
Of course, the Arch has a nice museum to check out and might as well ride to the top.

If Bars are your thing I will tell you I prefer the Soulard area, technically not "Downtown" but you can walk there if needed, a very short drive/cab ride. Other areas are Washington Avenue right by the dome. The Landing like mentioned above is another area, though it is more or a tourist and/or bachelorette/bachelor party type area. The 360 Bar is supposed to be a good time, but I don't have any first hand experience. The CWE, Clayton, U-City loop are also other great suggestions.

Food: Downtown Mike Shannons and Charlie Gittos are some well known spots. Both good but not sure either would be my first choice. For more casual places I think Bailey's Range is a fun burger and shake place. Also, Rooster is a good spot downtown for breakfast.

Like others suggested...if you plan on venturing out of the downtown area let us know...I can give you some other suggestions.
