He’s not huge but he uses it to his advantage getting into and out of small cracks. He doesn’t have home run speed like TG but he’s better in traffic, if you could stop Gurley’s feet you could contain him but Akers is good in traffic. I hope we see good things for the running game, that was the basis for everything when the offense was leading the league.

Yeah, you nailed it. He's definitely not TG. He is, however, amazing in a "phone booth" if you will. Dude always seems to get positive yardage. Patience and vision is what I see a lot from in him. Leveon Bell comes to mind.

20 minutes!?, I'll watch it eventually. He's got a muscular but compact frame, runs with physicality and seems to always finish plays going forward. Outside of CJ for a few games SJax was our last violent runner.

Great watch. I'm more excited now than I was for what Akers can be.

Love to see plays broken down like this that give a clearer idea of what the RB is seeing and doing than real time live watching.

We all Love Cam Akers on this board.

He's one of our top 5 players and a huge reason why we can win the SB this coming season.

Yep, he always seems to be falling forward....... and great in small spaces. He usually gains 3-4 yards after he disappears into the pile.

Praying to the football gods that Akers stays healthy all season (keep f%#*ing Jamal Adam’s and his late head shots away from him) hoping McVay will be smart and mix enough Henderson, Jones and Funk into the mix to keep Akers fresh into the playoffs. If so I see 1200+ yards and 12+ tds rushing from Akers. With plenty left in the tank for playoffs.

I don't know about the rest of ya, but this kid pegged my O face meter during the second half of the season. This is a great breakdown and I highly recommend you watch it. This kid is special. That jab step....

Cam Akers is for real. While the league is giving its attention to Stafford and these recievers, Akers is going to be the way this offense moves.
The PA bombs he will set up will be siiiick.

He's a hell of a RB. I hope they involve him in the pass game more this year.

I like the Lev Bell comparisons. Lots of crazy stop and go jukes that are hard to defend.

Not sure he has the Gurley breakaway speed, but I think Cam can be a better pass catcher.

Just got my 2021 NFL Fantasy Football guide. Akers is ranked #8. Henderson #50. Gurley is unranked among 80 ranked RBs. I know someone will pick him up but his lack of status has to be weighing on Gurley. I will always affectionately remember Gurley as the best RB in the NFL for 2017-2018.

I know I keep harping on how bad Blythe was from time to time but a perfect example of why I believe he was a huge part of the problem last year ...

Watch the play that Cam Akers scored the TD from the wild cat.

Blythe completely whiffed on his block (The Matador strikes again) and fell face forward on the ground and his guy had an open shot at Cam Akers in the backfield. This was a perfect example of what I was talking about. He must have been really good with his line calls for McVay to keep starting him at center throughout the season.

Fortunately Akers made the guy whiff on him and ran right by him. What's funny - because Blythe whiffed on his guy, it might have helped Akers score a TD because the next LB in line, Blythe got in the way.

Yeah and Blythe missed a lot of seals on outside zones too. He was really bad at getting second level the ILBs would run around him. If Corbs can do better there we are gonna see more big runs outside.
