Nice move by the Skins. They would've been screwed otherwise.

Alex Smith is becoming the modern day Steve Deberg. Washington surely will draft a qb heir apparent

First off who could afford him for a long term contract? He is going to get paid whoever picks him up.
I don’t know about that. He’s a qb so that alone gets him paid. But he wants to win so it may be “reasonable”
Getting overpaid the last 2 years should make him take a fair deal.

You hear that Tru??

Report: Chiefs reach agreement to trade Alex Smith to Redskins

Alex Smith doesn’t have to wonder about his future any longer, and Washington no longer has to wonder who its quarterback will be in 2018.

The Chiefs reached an agreement to trade Smith to the Redskins, Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports. There is no word on the compensation the Chiefs will receive.

Although the trade cannot be consummated until the first day of the league year, which begins March 14, Paylor reports the sides have agreed to the deal.

Smith was entering the final year of his deal, with a cap number of $20.6 million for 2018. The Chiefs will save $17 million on their cap.

It paves the way for Patrick Mahomes to take over as the starting quarterback in Kansas City. It also assures that Kirk Cousins will enter free agency after Washington used the franchise tag on him in consecutive years.

Don't laugh but he is going to Cleveland. And the Browns just might be next years Rams success story.......
You see this is where I thought he might end up and then the Cleveland Browns will draft Barkley first overall and trade down in the first to get a speedy wide receiver.

Doubt it, but Minnesota would be a great spot for Cousins. They're a complete team aside from stability at the QB position. I'd take Cousins over the 3 that they have/had.

Idk they also gave up a 3rd round pick and a unidentified player. Plus they extended him at for about $24 mil a year with $70 mil guaranteed.

They don’t have the money other teams do. Doubt that happens.
Sure they do, $25 million in cap space and a non guaranteed $19 million to Bortles. Cut him and you're golden. Cut Hurns and Ivory and boom there's another $14 million. They have all the money the want.

You got no chance without a QB. Picks mean little in that equation. Everyone thought the Skins set themselves back a decade or whatever back when they whiffed on RG3 after giving up a load of picks, but they were right back in it when Cousins settled the position down.

Plus Smith is probably better in that offense than Cousins. Good to see him go somewhere that they want him to be the guy and that contract guarantees that.
