Anyone else get tired of this? I've watched many feeds over the years and Kosar was the most obnoxious color commentator I've heard ever. Now I realize you're supposed to be a "homer" when doing these, but he was downright insulting.

He did not insult eveyrone, he liked Bradford, but kept commenting on how bad the Ram WR's were and their route dicipline. Even asked who their WR coach was because he kept commenting on the Rams in-ept play. Got on them for their vanilla play calling and even gave a back handed compliment to Greg Zuerlein by saying..."It's good thing they have a good FG kicker."

Now if the Rams were the Broncos I might understand, but Kosar was just unprofessional. Got worse as the game went on as he trashed QB Austin Davis on everything he did and was even worse when Kellen Clemens came into game saying..."I can't believe this guy is sitll in the league."

Things like this usually do not bother me, but Kosar got under my skin a bit and I was just wondering if anyone else came away with that thought process?

We we're talking about it last night on the GDT. He is horrible. Probably drunk the entire game. Paul started a thread, we're all going out to Cleveland to give him a wicked beatin'. The bus will pick you up shortly.

Unprofessional is the only word that fits. "Color commentators", obviously, are a little more animated and bias, but this guy was just plain insulting and came across as a complete dick. The other guy (Donovan) did an admirable job trying to keep the conversation on point, but he had no chance of making it a legit broadcast with Kosar CONSTANTLY whining about how the Rams' QBs weren't taking advantage of coverages, and how the receivers were awful, and how Clemens turned his daughter into a porn star (my embellishment).

You don't often hear commentators say the things he was saying (e.g., saying the receiver's parents should be embarrassed, and how Clemens is so awful) . I was going to make a compilation video of all of his inappropriate comments throughout the broadcast, and even have it queued up in my video editor, but I really don't feel like re-living it again. The guy's an embarrassment - plain and simple.

Re: Bernie Kozar (Good God)

Kosar can be grating. I replied to some other guys on the Herd about this. And by the way he always sounds like that, he always sounds like he's half drunk or just got a root canal. He doesn't enunciate well at all. That and he has NO filter or sense of humor. I likened him to Charles Barkley, who beats on players too, but Barkley is pretty funny and has a very engaging personality. Kosar isn 't like that and never has been. It's why he'll never have a job in the booth other than as a pre season guest. He's what I call a fun extinguisher.

That said.....he knows what he's talking about more often than most guys. He comes across as not that bright but in reality he is highly intelligent and his "football IQ" is sky high.

He's just had a charisma bypass that's all lol.

I agree that he knows more than we are giving him credit for because of his demeanor. That's usually a problem with guys like him who blurt out caustic remarks.

He said now he knows why Sam has been having problems, because the WRs have been horrible. Well, who disagrees with that? Not me.

Kosar knows more about the passing game than anyone on this board, and if he says Bradford was perfect on that TD drive, then that carries a lot of weight with me. If he says Bradford was fantastic and he loves watching him throw the ball, then that was the single most positive thing I heard all night on the most important issue I had going in.

And I agree with Kozar that we need a better vet backup QB. We can't get a good evaluation of the young WRs with Davis in there. Heck, even Faulk said that.

So yeah, Kozar is a jerk. Who cares?

I don't think anyone would dispute the fact that Kosar knows football. I mean, duh. He played it long enough at a high level to understand the nuances of the game, coverage schemes, offensive philosophy, and whatever else he was trying to talk about. The problem *I* had, was his inability to process that Fisher wasn't playing to win the game. He was playing to evaluate his players in certain situations. There's no reason to rail on the offensive "strategy" in preseason game 1 if the QB doesn't take advantage of press coverage and runs an iso play instead. Moreso, there's no reason to rail on it every. single. time. the QB didn't do what he wanted them to do. Shut the fuck up and understand that we weren't trying to showcase our entire playbook for the rest of the league.

Further, I care that he's a jerk. That's my prerogative, I'd hope. I don't pay money to listen to a belligerent douchebag say that the Rams' receivers' parents should be embarrassed at their respective performances. I have little tolerance for people who are that disrespectful in my every day life, so clearly it's going to translate when I discuss it on this forum. If that's an indictment of my personality, then so be it. I'm not ashamed of voicing my displeasure at having to listen to that moron for 4 quarters of my first Rams game in months.

Wait.....don't you pay for this board? :lull:

Kosar is grating for sure, and I don't like his delivery either. As a person he's actually very kind and gracious though. As an announcer he is mean spirited sometimes and it's just not a good fit for him IMO. However I think he'd be a pretty good front office type.

In CLE people adore him because of what he is (outside of the booth LOL) and will listen to him because they know he's smart......and he's Bernie.

Not to rush to the dude's defense or anything because I thought it was obnoxious as all hell too, but I guess he has been receiving treatment for brain trauma. Let's face it, as a Browns QB the dude took an undeniable beating in his day and he's paying the price now. Not a free pass to cast down judgement like King Dick (as he was) but still, the guy is obviously messed in the head. Literally.

The dudes obviously unprofessional and at this time incapable of being a color commentator, especially in games involving his beloved Browns.
I do see how you would interpret our receiver play as subpar. Vanilla offense aside there were to many drops, an ongoing problem for us for more than a couple years.
I do like the way Quick looked in comparison to last year and Baily looked good also very rangy, Givens looks like he is picking up where he left off, a stud in the making.
The rest minus a couple bright spots were subpar when it comes to bringing in the ball.
He still is a horrible color man though.
