Here's one by a band I doubt any of ya'll have heard of. They are called Big Wreck and they have been one of my fave bands for over 25 years. The lead singer/guitarist Ian Thornley has a voice like Chris Cornell and chops like SRV...solo is about the 4:45 mark, but do yourself a favor and listen to it all. So many layers here...

Man, I can't believe someone else on here thought of this song immediately, haha. You're my spirit animal.

This as a great solo from Vivian Campbell, who is not a virtuoso like Marty, but shreds none the less... Plus, it's an excuse to listen to Dio.

So many good solos on Rust in Peace. Vivian had great riffs and solos with Dio, amazing stuff. When he played with Def Leppard I always wondered why they wouldn’t let him go off and shred.

Wow! Very much like Chris Cornell. I'm going to have to play this for my wife. She is a huge CC fan. At least we got to see him before he passed.

Trust me dude. If you give that band a chance, they will stay in your mix forever. They aren't instantly gratifying, but they get better with every listen and have more staying power than any band I have ever heard. Check out the Albatross album. It's a good starting point. Cheers!

I was on YouTube looking for some Malmstein and came across this guy.
I’ve never heard of him, but wow!
He’s amazing.
What he’s doing on such a clean channel, is insane.

Ichika Nito is his name.

Um, Polyphia fan?
I'm not a fan but that's the first thing I thought of. Then reading the first comment about Ichika Nito rocking the Tim Henson special . . . yeah. Here you go:

One of the best in history in my opinion is John Frusciante on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Dani California.

We all know Ralph Macchio beat the devil's guitar virtuoso in Steve Vai. Simple!
If Eddie Van Halen wants to become as good as Ralph, he better get himself down to the CROSSROADS!

Vai played all the solos as you probably knew. He said the first solo was the best
My favorite guitarist of all time. Probably never heard of him. But, if you've listened to Kid Charlemagne (Steely Dan), that's him doing one of the most iconic guitar riffs in rock history. but his work doesn't stop there. Read up on him.

Diaz, Skunk and Elliott Randall also played on albums……just wow. My old School solo is so quirky cool by Skunk and Elliott’s Solo on reelin is Jimmy Pages favorite solo. Good post my friend

I'll check out that album some time this week.

My wife actually thought she was listening to an unreleased Chris Cornell song when I played it for her. She asked, "How is there a Chris Cornell song I haven't heard?"

Wait til she hears more of him. He is supremely talented and is able to reproduce it live better than Cornell was IMO. Have seen them both live multiple times, and both are/were just amazing.... But Ian is different. Dude is like 6'6 or some shit and blows out mic diaphragms with those pipes, haha.

Here's a good example...and you get a funky lil bass solo at the beginning for being a good listener. :)

Love the "Dan." In my top 10 All time bands. Other solos that stand out are in Dont Take Me Alive, My Old School and The Great Jimmy Page's all-time favorite solo is the opening to Reelin' In The Years.

How does this dude get over looked SOOO much…?

Must be his pop success… But make no mistake, Prince is an absolute shredder.

He gets overlooked, EVEN THOUGH he's a great guitar player because he doesn't really apply it to his actual SONGS. Little Red Corvette, Let's Get Crazy, nice little pop songs without guitar featured.

Prince is to me a Baseball player who has Sandy Koufax' stuff, but plays Second Base.

With rare exceptions, you are correct,,, That’s why the best venue to have experienced his talent was always the live concert.

He was cold as ice on the keyboards, too….

Oh yes. Overall musical genius. But I guess he had no inclination on being the next Jimi Hendrix. Pop was his game
