Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald arrived at team facilities Tuesday for the start of minicamp, NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported Tuesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted Donald's presence means he doesn't plan on holding out for a new contract.

Aaron Donald does not yet have a new contract, but the defensive tackle is no longer staying away from the Los Angeles Rams' facility.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported Tuesday that Donald reported for mandatory minicamp, according to a team spokesman.

Donald has stayed away from voluntary offseason workouts before this week.

NFL Network's Omar Ruiz, who is in attendance at Rams practice, reports that Donald is doing individual work off to the side.

Donald is set to earn just $1.8 million in 2017 under his rookie contract. The Rams exercised the fifth-year team option to keep him in L.A. in 2018. Both sides hope a deal is done well before then.

General manager Les Snead has consistently said this offseason that Donald deserves a hefty raise. Snead said in May contract talks are in a "serious" stage.

Those serious talks haven't led to a mega-deal that should make the All-Pro one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL.

By reporting to minicamp, Donald avoids being fined (up to $80,405 for missing all three days) and shows good faith on his end of the negotiations.

So, if he gets hurt, like bridgewater, does this effect the contract negotiations? Not jinxing. No jinxing, BUT do the rams feel they can wait? This is the only reason I thought he wouldn't be at camp without a contract. If it would effect the contract, then that just shows you Donalds commitment to the rams, and I would hope that the rams would reciprocate if the unmentionable happened.

I disagree. On one end, he has an obligation to the team to uphold his contract. On another, he has to send a message to the FO.

I remember people losing their shit when Jackson held out for a new contract. In the end, these guys know they only have maybe two contracts in their NFL career, and risking your body (people get injured during OTAs all the time) for a voluntary workout isn't worth it.

right, he is under contract for 2 more years so if he gets hurt the rams can put off new contracts talks and see what happens this year and next year.
Would the rams agree to pay him 20 mil, or whatever, to be rehabbing this year and another 20 next year hoping he he was back to being himself?

I don't like players not showing up so I was hoping they could find a way for him to be in camp during negotiations. And now he is so this is all moot

yeah and on the flip side they could give give him the 20 mil and he injures himself after he gets the contract then the rams are "screwed"

but like ya said moot point and i think we all can agree he deserves the cash ...
