Laken Tomlinson tears MCL, not ACL
Posted by Charean Williams on December 31, 2018

It did not appear good news for 49ers left guard Laken Tomlinson when he was carted off during Sunday’s game. But medical tests revealed Tomlinson did not tear his anterior cruciate ligament as feared.

“It’s good news in terms of what we might have feared,” 49ers General Manager John Lynch told reporters Monday. “His ACL is intact so that’s a good thing. His MCL is torn, and that’s going to take some time, but I think they are talking three months as opposed to obviously what an ACL could be. That’s what they had a hunch last night. They were feeling good. But the scans did confirm that his ACL was intact. That was really good news for us.”

Tomlinson will not need surgery, Lynch said.

Tomlinson has started 31 consecutive games for the 49ers, taking every snap until Sunday, and he has appeared in 63 of 64 games in his NFL career. He played 32 of 62 snaps against the Rams before injuring his right knee.

Whiners with only Kittle this year will be a much improved team next year with the injured WRs coming back.

Yep, many of us posted the same information last year....With a full year of Jimmy Garoppolo the 49ers will much much improved....Well so far under Kyle Shanahan, 6-10 & 4-12,

Remember doing that every year with our Rams? Yeah that next year stuff is some BS.

Niners are going to get some really fine pieces on defense in this draft though. So will the Cards. We'll have two cover 3 type defenses that are capable of smothering a passing game in our division. Teams gonna be drafting to stop this offense for the next couple years tbh, I expect the NFC West to be strong top to bottom defensively next season.

Here is an interesting article written early Dec.Whiners have the 2nd pick in the draft. So far under Lynch and Shanahan made moves all of which haven't paid off. They have 65M in cap space in 2019. They were hit with the injury bug this year. Certainly no guarantee what happens next year. I hope they stay in the under .500 zone. I think it will be a critical year for the future of the franchise.

Good article and 2019 will the year for them, but one can hope they keep losing and bring former Head Coach JIm Tomsula.

I don’t think the Eagles can play the RAMS in two week, if the Eagles beat the Bears they’ll be headed to New Orleans. Three weeks maybe?

Eagles would have to beat the Bears and Aints back to back, both on the road to play the Rams...If they somehow pull off that seemingly impossible task, then they will get the Horns...Assuming that they take care of business in the divisional round as they should...

49ers fire their strength and conditioning coach
Posted by Darin Gantt on January 4, 2019

It’s hard to blame the strength coach for a torn ACL, but the 49ers have made a change.

According to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area, the 49ers have fired head strength and conditioning coach Ray Wright, and plan to restructure the department.

The 49ers placed 17 players on injured reserve this year and 24 last year, so maybe they think changing staff will change their luck.

“It’s been too big of a deal for two years,” Shanahan said earlier this week. “Injuries are pretty random, but it’s also affected us huge. So that’s something that we definitely have to sit back and really look at it from all angles and put a lot of time into. Just try to find a better perspective at it.”

Wright worked with Shanahan in Houston and Washington, and came west with him, but they’re making a change now.
