Anyone have a band / artist they never used to care for

but can now at least tolerate ?

Duran Duran

I just took a instant disliking to this band

I was still in high school when they hit , and I have two sisters that instantly fell in love with them , especially the bass player John Tayler

and yes , there was a time I could name all five members , but it didn't hurt that three of the members had the same last name , Tayler , even though none of the three were related

I just could not stand this band

whether or not I liked them at the time , their the band I always credited for issuing in the new wave sound in the 80's , as the 80's would soon fill up with new wave bands

Reason I thought of Duran Duran , I remember reading a while back in a couple publications , that John Tayler was voted the greatest bass player of all time

now , before everyone jumps in , I don't remember who actually did the voting , if it was a fan thing or not , and I'm sure opinions will vary

but I have watched a few professional bass players youtube videos ( no idea who they were ) John Taylers name comes up quite a bit and trying to play the bass line on their song Rio , apparently it's pretty difficult

but...........

It's been a couple years now since high school , and I now find myself at least tolerating their music

one of those rare bands where the bass and keyboard players were more popular then the singer....................lol
