I know everyone is familiar with the night the music died
The plane crash that killed , Buddy Holly , The Big Bopper and Richie Valens just north of Clear Lake Iowa after playing the Winter Dance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake
Just wasn't sure how many knew anything about the Surf Ballroom it's self
It's still there and still looks pretty much just like it did the night Buddy Holly played there , the exact pay phone that Buddy Holly used to call his wife right before he left for the airport , still hangs on he wall
The Surf Ballroom is a virtual time machine , the second you enter the door , you are transported to 1959
don't get me wrong , it's still used today , I believe Slaughter is playing there this weekend and Peter Frampton comes alive there at the end of the month
I've been there a couple times , it's a pretty cool place
