I'm not talking about Xbox or Playstation or games you can download. I am talking about coin operated video games that you would spend your allowance on trying to get the high score at the arcade. (Thanks to @Loyal for the idea)

I used to kill it at Tempest. Uncle had a machine at his restaurant and used to play it every weekend.

This is literally the only video game that hooked me. I never played anything else. I think it was because you have to manually flap the wings of the fucking ostrich. LOL

I was never any good at it. But I couldn't resist firing in some quarters on this one. Otherwise, I was trolling any possible poon while my friends were glued to their games.

Too many to list. Just cuz you posted a vector game, I'll go with the Star Wars Arcade.

And I remember blowing a lot of coin on 1942.

I played that (or something very very similar) on the computers in my high school. That was a fun game.

I remember when I was in High School, I'd go to the nearby dairy queen, and I'd play the only two arcade video games they had: Asteroids and Joust. Yes, flapping the osterich wings was fun! So I connect a double chcolate ice cream cone, dipped in chocolate, with Joust!

Revolution X, the Aerosmith arcade game. When I was in 5th or 6th grade my dad would take me to the arcade in the mall every Wednesday. He was kind of a hard ass about homework the rest of the week (ok, I was actually just lazy about homework and he gave me the tough love I needed), but Wednesday he would take me down to the arcade no matter what. The first few times, it feels like months now but it probably wasn't that long, we would spend about 20 minutes looking for the Cinnabon. We could smell it but we couldn't find it. Upper floor, lower for, one end to the other, we searched every-damn-where. We finally found it under the escalator. After that we'd always have Cinnabon first, then go to the arcade.

My dad loved classic rock and so I loved classic rock. The game was more a novelty the first time we played, like, "Oh look, Aerosmith has a video game. How silly." But then we decided we wanted to beat it. We went there week after week. He was not making great money but I'll be damned if dad didn't do everything in his power to save up enough to give that game a good go once a week. He finally saved enough coins to keep me alive through the whole thing and we beat the game. I don't really remember the arcade after that, but I'm sure we still went. I don't have a very good memory for my childhood, but that stands out.

It was one of the best times of my childhood and I am forever grateful for the wonderful gift of time spent together that my dad gave me. He was an awesome father doing his absolute best through some bad circumstances. I owe what I am today to him and thinking of my favorite arcade game reminded me of that.

Man, I can almost smell those arcade machines right now. Mine were space invaders, missile command, asteroids, Zaxxon, and Popeye (underrated). And then I spent about $200 to be able to complete this one on one play-through:

Totally agree with you on movies, and now video games too. WTF.

I totally flipped out over the Dragon’s Lair game, but only had the chance to play it a dozen times or so. The game never seemed to be around at the local mall—only when I’d go on vacation somewhere would I see it. A buddy of mine and I got a chance to watch a guy get all the way to the Dragons Lair at the end, and we thought he was a video game Demigod.

Just watched the whole damn video you posted... takes me back!
