Would love to tour New Zealand, have family there in Christchurch and always thought the place was beautiful.

Also tied with Scotland, something about the hills, alcohol, castles, and people just seems very inviting to me and think I'd thoroughly enjoy a tour around it.
Ditto in reverse…Scotland (grand parents from there). New Zealand looks amazing.
3rd place would be Sicily, found out in my early thirties my dads father was born and raised there.

Dude, you were the one telling me about living on the island in Ireland? I recently hired a firm to get Irish citizenship through my grandmother. I couldn’t remember who it was but now I do! Lol Working on it right now, need to find documents etc. Are you an Irish citizen? If so how long did it take? Your story inspired me to pursue this! Lol

I was born here, so passport renewals for me takes about 10 minutes, and I get it in the post a few days later. I'm unsure how the process works for first time, but if you have all the documents it shouldn't take too long, we're usually happy to welcome back people whose family left a few generations ago, especially those who left during An Gorta Mór. Best of luck to ye, it's a great passport to have, and it'll make any move to here or Europe much easier!

Plus it's nice to flash the passport at the checkpoint line and not have to deal with whatever questions holds up the American/non EU line. When you get it, hop on over for a holiday!

Shit I prefer the off beaten paths wherever I go, I like to do my own thing, especially when the crowds are there. I want to hopefully take a tour with all the pieces in Rome and Venice with the museums as well.

Need to visit the Altar of peace as I have a unique connection with it.

They have a lot of them, and I do recommend the walking tours, even for some of the free attractions if you want to know more about what you're looking at and some fun facts, but that may not be as needed for you as it was for me. After walking around a bit on my own to explore things at my own leisure I would usually end up joining a group that was doing a walking tour of all the different historical landmarks in the various cities. Tons of miles put in, but worth it since I'm not an expert on Roman/Italian history, so it was really cool to pass by some innocent looking place and have them point out that Galileo had spent time there. Some very rich history, very different from Ireland, which I enjoy as a contrast. I've done a few trips from Ireland to Greece, taking ferry's and trains just to see the different things, stop and enjoy the different foods, etc. Highly recommended for anyone who has a few weeks/months and want to blow a bunch of money eating and drinking!

I don't think I ever made it to the Alter of peace, but looking at it, I'm surprised I didn't, very interesting. I guess I'll have to plan another trip back sometime soon.

Bucket list is African safari. Needs to be in an isolated lodge that when you wake up, the window opens up a panoramic view of the savannah.

Brudda... I don't want to spoil your dream here, but it wouldn't be right if I didn't share this with you.

This happened about 15 years ago. A friend of mine set up an African safari trip that spared no expense. There were 2 couples that went together... my friend and his fiance along with another married couple (The wife was pregnant).

Like I said... they spent loads of money on this trip. They were staying near Mount K and had set up a guided safari through the worldwide hotel they were staying in.

When they went out on the safari they were driven out into the bush together. At some point they stopped and all got out of the vehicle. That's when masked guys came out of the bushes and started screaming for their money. They all started running and the masked guys started shooting at them.

My friend got shot in the leg and the pregnant girl from the couple who went with them was shot somewhere in her upper torso. It was a miracle that they all weren't killed right there, but the masked guys left and the guides were able to take everyone back to the big hotel they were staying in.

My friend and the pregnant wife from the other couple were forced to be treated in hospitals there in Africa that my friend described as complete horror scenes. They had to be transfered to different hospitals in different countries there and they were all horrific.

The pregnant wife from the other couple was flown back to the states somehow but ended up losing the baby from it. My friend and his fiance had to stay in Africa in these nightmare hospitals much longer before they could fly home. They were both extremely lucky to even survive.

An investigation found that the guides they hired through this well known worldwide hotel chain were in on the attempted robbery. My friends had a huge lawsuit against that hotel chain that seemed like a slam dunk case. Well, due to some kind of crazy different laws in Africa my friends lost the lawsuit.

They are just thankful to be alive. And guess what... neither one of those couples travel anywhere anymore.

Plus you can get robbed and injured anywhere, it's not as if people don't get held up at gunpoint and shot in the United States every single day or anything.

Dang that's an absolutely insane story. I know a lot of places are shady there especially in the central areas. So glad your friends got out of there alive.

I was thinking something like South Africa if there's there's preserve or something. But after your tale, I might just go to a zoo.
