We need a SPEED receiver and have for years. If not, one curveball would be Kenyon Sidiq, the TE from Oregon. He can block, run screens, run deep - you name it. Will be potential All Pro in 3-4 years. T Ferg can run deep patterns as well. If McVay wants to open up the field, a 12 personnel lineup of T Ferg and Sidiq along with Adams and Puka would be unstoppable. McVay could create any number of routes that would leave guys wide open. Adams would never face a double team and Puka would be more open than he's been. SNEAD - MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!

I’d be laser focused on the real issues we need to address which is defense. Offense maybe later in the draft with Oline Depth and a short yardage back.

To address defense I trade for a top CB. I move up a few spots to draft Downs. I sign more free agent CB depth.

C Tyler Linderbaum Baltimore.

UFA, multiple time pro bowler and no serious health issues, would be a huge upgrade over the Center position over the last two years and give Stafford a better pocket

He would absolutely beef up the Rams OL but his projected $$ would be huge. I don’t see Rams putting that much $$ in OC.
Note: Spotrac projects $17.7m/yr.
There are other FA options like Cade Mays.

I've advocated for this as well. Stafford needs great protection to win a Super Bowl and the RBs like going up the middle. Shelton is very good on the run, but 36th/40 in pass blocking, and again, no Super Bowl w/o Stafford being healthy (and having time).

I agree Linderbaum may be too expensive, but he's 25 and 5th overall PFF. Shelton was ok (13th overall). Mays is 25th overall, so I'd stay with Shelton.

Probably, but that’s the piece I’d add.

Might mean they have to let Avila walk in FA if they do that. You can't pay all 5 OL without needing to go budget elsewhere. Though maybe the Rams say fuck it and backload it all. They are in a rare spot as a team, with a coach who can compete during a rebuild. So why not.

We’ve got $50M in cap space, even with extending Puka, Turner and BY, they can add another player and if I had one guy to add to the offense, I’d pick Linderbaum.

Not so sure about the better pocket.

From what I understand Linderbaum has always been a far better run blocker than pass protector.

Think I'd rather draft a guy like Logan Jones then pay a center the highest salary in the NFL (for center). I think he will require it.

Ordinarily, I’d agree, but this decision has to factor in the need to a veteran’s level of understanding of the offense so that Stafford stays upright. Now is not the time for a rookie on the OL.

We still have Shelton, who could start while the rookie learns. Shelton wasn't awful last year. Not awful enough to warrant the highest center contract in the league.

I get not liking Shelton. He's limited physically.

But ... I think Shelton IS THE GUY, because of how McVay and Stafford feel about him, and the position.

I also believe ... no way to know for sure ... that the third-and-two play from the Philadelphia 13 was DECISIVE in the Rams (McVay / Stafford) thinking. Limmer went left ... Dotson went right ... neither blocked anyone ... and an All Pro DL (who was right in front of them) went completely un-blocked to sack Stafford.

Jalen Carter may very well have run-over Coleman Shelton like he was nothing more than a speed bump ... BUT ... I believe Shelton would have known to, at least, stand in front of Carter ... AND ... that may well have been enough for Stafford to connect with a breaking-wide-open Higbee.

That play got Coleman Shelton a $14M contract ... in my opinion.

Now, a future starting center (I am still hoping it's Beaux Limmer but that hope is waning) could be an option with a mid-round-pick but I don't see center as to good use of cap space that will get used-up very quickly.

Couldn't we say this about every premium free agent? Isn't it better to get that position (insert position) in the draft?

We won't have enough draft picks to meet every need, so some positions will need to be handled in free agency before the draft.

We need a known commodity at OC. It will likely stay Shelton but someone like Linderbaum would not only improve OC but likely improve RG/LG play (especially in pass protection as it would require less effort to assist Shelton at times).

They are not going to replace Shelton this year imo. The best we can hope for is to draft a high ranked in 3-5th round and develop him to take over in 2027.
2nd round would seem to rich for them to spend on a backup. 6-7th round is more likely (but not best hope). Or none at all and they keep developing what they currently have (probably most likely of all scenarios).
I’d love a 3rd round top 1-3 ranked OC or a move up into 4th to grab a guy that is surprisingly still there.
