WTH Ford

I've gotten so used to hopping in my Silverado, push ignition button, push auto stop button to turn off... I don't even realize I do it anymore. It's just part of the motion now. Sometimes I go to turn it off only to see I already turned it off and then I have to sit there and try and get my brain to remember me turning it off. It makes me feel old and angry all at the same time.

I grew up in a GM family but have been disappointed lately by stuff we've owned. Might actually try a Ford next. Just replaced my wife's shitty Equinox with a 25 Explorer ST. A really nice performance suv with way too many bells and whistles but it gets up and goes at least.

I drove foreign made vehicles for most of my adult life until recently buying a diesel F-250. I can honestly tell you that I absolutely LOVE that beast. It tows like a monster but drives like a dream when it's not hauling anything. I can't see myself ever wanting to drive something else now. Hey... and there's no auto stop feature to worry about.

If the apocalypse ever comes, I'll be driving straight over zombie mobs with no concerns.

I've had three Ford products during my life. A Sable, Lincoln and Mustang. Those 3 have had far more repairs than any Chevy I've owned. I doubt I'll ever trust a Ford product again. I tend to own my vehicles for 8 to 10 years. Hate to say it but my wife's Hyundai is 6 years old and the most reliable car we've ever owned as far as breaking down. Only maintenance costs so far. My Silverado is 10 years old and I replaced a throttle assembly, alternator and power steering pump. Thats it. The Fords have had an engine replaced on one and numerous other things on the others like a transmission, air conditioning compressor, catalytic converter, head gasket, along with numerous other smaller things.

Yeah. I have had to replace the knock sensors and the rear brake assembly on my ‘07 Silverado. I’m getting ready to replace the original shocks after 250,000 miles. I keep saying I’m going to buy a newer model but my mechanic thinks I’d be nuts. That ole truck gets almost 20mpg on the highway, climbs like a goat, still looks pretty decent, and drives like no Ford ever could - and I’ve had a couple Ford trucks.

I grew up a GM guy, but owned a lot of other American brands as well because I always had company cars every 2-3 years. Bought the wife Toyotas and Hondas but a new Chevy Blazer recently (she took it in the divorce -bitch!). Anyway... some American cars have definitely had issues but the imports from Europe are just as bad. Mercedes, Audi, and BMW are no better in terms of reliability than American cars. It's the Japanese brands that are more reliable than anyone else but they lack creativity in my opinion. The Koreans have come on strong but I had a KIA once and will never buy another one.
