Rams are going the Patriot way. Love or hate it, it works. Draft well, and don't overpay. Unless it's a QB. If Donald wants, (or is going to), 60M gauranteed, adois.
Obviously, not a knock on him, but you simply cannot keep doing that, especially with the overall talent Fisher and Snead keep drafting.
Pay Gurley, and ( hopefully) pay Goff. Otherwise, I'd pass. Von Miller, JJ Watt and Suh are not franchise changers. They franchised Tru for a reason. If he has a stellar year, bet you anything he's gone. And if he doesn't, they made the right move in franchising him.
Develop an eye for talent, not splash signings. Demoff does a great job, but focus on talent, not smart contracts.
Contracts are slowly destroying Seattle, but the Packers keep on keeping on. A good/great QB is worth it, everybody else, not so much.
Right. I included those performances but those were the best two games of his entire life. He's a pass rushing specialist and that's about it. Maybe he can prove this year that he can do it all but I think they would be silly to give him JJ Watt type money. He single handedly won the SB IMO. Also, a great game in the AFC Ship. Pay him anything he wants.
LesBaker said " This is the value of Fisher and Snead. Especially Snead because he has had a nose for dirt cheap but decent to good talent."With the new CBA limiting rookie deals most guys are going to test the market and plenty of them (meaning most) will find a team to overpay. This means that a team that drafts well has a distinct advantage because they are restocking the roster as free agency strips it down. This is the value of Fisher and Snead. Especially Snead because he has had a nose for dirt cheap but decent to good talent.
I mostly agree with you on the sentiment "A good/great QB is worth it, everybody else, not so much". There are exceptions of course and I know you know that I'm not saying you don't get that. You can't have back breaking contracts on 3-4 players and expect to keep a roster competitive. It's a fools game and always has been.

Do you let the best defensive player in the league in Aaron Donald walk if he asks for $125 million? I would hate to see him in another jersey but he can't win games by himself either.
umm.. no. Donald's isn't going anywhere and he's getting paid.
The Eagles are nuts! This is the same team who gave Chase Daniels 21 million with 12 million guaranteed to be the virtual #3 QB!! And it's not like they can save money if he becomes the #1 after Bradford departs. His contract gives him even more money if he becomes the #1. Then again, I could never figure out how the niners kept all their stars rolling in dough when the salary cap was instituted.
Just saw on ESPN that the Eagles are #1 at paying guaranteed money, $280.2 million. Twice as much as the next team. Fletcher Cox: 63.3 million: Lane Johnson: 35.5 million, Carson Wentz: 26.2 million, Vinny Curry: 23 million, Sam Bradford: 22 million, and so on and so forth.
