The games have officially started with the opening ceremonies in Mexico City being viewed by 1 billion world wide, to compare the super bowl is appx 125mi while the Beijing Olympics top all sporting events with nearly 2 billion

With the worlds largest single sport event underway, what are your thoughts on possible winners, underdogs that could surprise, early exits by teams predicted to do well and how will our U.S team fare?

Mexico up 2-0 and RSA playing down 2 players. Not a real impressive game by the neighbors to the south but certainly not a bad performance either.
 
Gonna hit the bar on Friday night and catch our boys. Hope they perform well, figure they may get out of the first round since our group doesn't look too tough, but don't expect more than that.

8 or 12 groups send the 3rd place team too, at least that's what appears to be the case this cup.

I think we could possibly get out of the round of 32 but the going will get very tough after that

One other thing is our manager this time around... Seems like he's better than what we usually have. Fingers crossed. :laugh2:

Yeah he is a step up, we play a much higher European style and quality of soccer. He has 600+ games under his belt coaching in Europe which helps, His results were mediocre +, especially at certain stops (see O.S)
