It WAS socially out of line. Would you come on here and tell racist jokes? Because joking that a woman is crying rape to get money is a sexist joke. If a female fan that has been raped frequents this forum (I'd say the odds of that are high), this would likely come across as extremely offensive to her, and it should.

This is 2015 and it's no longer "funny" to joke about people based on their race, gender, or sexual preference.

Most of the jokes are satirical - at least that's how I read the Kanye post - I thought it provoked thought, which it did, which was serving to suggest there are woman that are known to be gold diggers / which has shown to be the case many a time in the past with pro athletes just as (but not necessarily equal to) real true incidents of rape being swept aside based on he said she said etc....
Let's open our mind to the bugs that not only scurry around above ground but below as well

I'm glad you posted the definition, because it highlights my personal issue with it: "the use of humor to ridicule people's stupidity". The stupidity in this example would be being a gold digger. We used humor by posting the gold digger music video.

How do you not see what is wrong with that? Rape is a sensitive issue, and there's no telling what actually happened. If it's proven that she wasn't actually raped, then go for it, make fun of her. Until then, I don't see the point. People are innocent until proven guilty, but rape victims are treated as such until it's proven they aren't. There is a reason for that.

Freedom of speech and all that, I get it. I have an issue with it when people are insensitive to others though, and that's what I think this is.

Not sure what you're talking about - I have only stated (repeatedly now) that the Kanye West Gold Digger song is appropriate in this context as a method of (however you find it offensive) pointing out the stupidity of a situation - in this case Infamous Jameis

Please re-read what I've written - there is nothing personal there - nor is what I've write saying anything about whether or not I think it's a funny joke / nor have I ever called a woman a C word - but the ONLY point I have made is that the Kanye post is in fact socially significant and appropriate and a good use of satire in this situation (regarding rape accusations and a self proclaimed famous athlete like Jameis Winston ) - and in fact is not poor form but an absolute consideration in this rape case

What is the underlying reason? I'm not trying to defend sexual assault, hell this is my daughter in the pic...definitely don't want her going to frat parties either...but this instance seems strange...so the gold digger video, while insensitive, may fit...I don't buy the police effed up the investigation...police prosecute almost everybody...that's what they do...now if a JURY let Jameis go, I'd see some credence...I could see that happening, but law enforcement...in Florida, hell no...Not if there was ANY real evidence...

The fact is; the facts are murky from what we know.

Is Winston a pig?

Are her motives less than genuine?

I have no idea... And I am not responsible to decide who is telling the truth. But I believe the system gets these things right almost all the time so I defer to due process.

I also know this: ROD is a fan forum and opinions are respected when conveyed within the rules. Let's not pretend everyone is perfect every day in how they express their thoughts.

Participate here enough and you'll see plenty of examples where my opinion or humour misses the mark with some people.

The judge threw out the case before, no? So I think the Gold Digger video perfectly applies to this. Remember, it's a civil suit and is mostly mean to award monetary damages.

Do I think it's strategic that they filed now? Probably. But waiting to file a suit isn't out of the ordinary and it's not like filing the case means it'll be heard any time soon. Could be two years before it's heard. Could be heard in one year. That's if they go to trial.

Not quite. The State opted not to prosecute. And then there were a hearing before a retired judge for the Student Conduct Hearing at FSU...and he found against the girl. But that hearing was outside the legal system so it doesn't matter.
