We need to look for a QB on Day 2 or early Day 3 we like in the next couple drafts. Wolford isn't the guy.

Dude, that's the Monstars' song in Space Jam (and has zero curse words, to boot). In my honest opinion, it's the best villain song since Imperial March.
I loved the movie as a kid and when the hook came in I realized I've heard it before. But been sleeping on it because I never realized it had meth or busta in it.

Is any back up really any good? That’s why there back ups! Wolford came in last year and did enough to win a must win game for us. Threw for 231 yards and ran for some key first downs.

What he did when the lights shined bright is all I care about. Evaluating any player during garbage time is like evaluating a preseason game.

I was a big Wolfy supporter last year, overall I think he played very well against both the Cards and Seahawks. But yeah, he has looked like crap so far in limited action in 2021.

Main difference IMHO is that when Wolfy is the designated starter, McVay completely changes the O and the play designs in order to capitalize on Wolford's skill set. A lot more plays designed to prioritize his mobility.

I think Wolfy is somewhere in the middle-- not as bad as he's looked in garbage time this year, but also not as good as the hype of last year.

This. McVay would need to leave the rest of the starters in and call plays like it was 0-0 for us to evaluate him.

And even then, he's not getting practice reps with those guys. The last time we saw all those things align he played well enough for us to win.

I believe the guy has scored more touchdowns for the other team then he has for the rams. So yes a better backup qb should be looked at next offseason.

spend a little money for insurance and get a vet in here next year. Case can at least hold his own. No rookie will be good enough next season.

Please don't excuse his play. What are you, his mother? Best friend?

I was shaking my head when Jefferson (NOT A BACKUP) ran a perfect out pattern but was covered, and Wolfie threw a sure pick six that the DB dropped.

No thanks. He almost single-handedly was instrumental in a 38-0 collapse.

I absolutely think Perkins should take this role. He does everything Wolford does, but better.
Can't tell if you're being serious here but he didn't single-handedly do anything. We were never even close to the Texans having an actual chance and it's clear the second team defense and special teams played a MUCH larger part in the Texans scoring points than Wolford's TWO pass attempts.

Clearly the league has good backups because there were 4 that won games today and 3 that actually played really well. We've also seen what a Nick Foles type can do for a playoff caliber team that loses it's franchise guy.

We could stand to upgrade or at least give Wolf some actual competition for the 2 spot next year. I don't think he's at the point in the career where he's safe enough to not even play like he did this preseason.

And no, I don't believe in Perkins at all.

If Stafford goes down, we're screwed. Wolford is NOT a viable option to take us to/through the playoffs.

.

When wolford walked onto the field I switched over to the red zone channel. That's how much interest I have in wolford being the Rams qb.

A cheap veteran backup also likely isn't going to be good enough. I'd rather get a young guy to develop. If Stafford goes down, odds are that we're fucked no matter what next year.

Wolford stays this season. But I've never really been sold on his skillset. If he has a scheme created for his skillset he can be a serviceable backup player. He's got a strong arm but his accuracy is erratic. He tends to look down his receivers, a big no-no in the NFL. Wolford signed with the Rams in April of 2019 so he has had 3 years to develop. He showed he really isn't where he needs to be after 3 years.

Perkins has a good arm with overall better accuracy. Coming out as a rookie his biggest weakness was reading coverages. Like most college running QBs he was a one-read or run type of player. But this past pre-season he showed he's beginning to develop the ability to read defenses. He's not there yet but by 2023 he should be. Until then IMO he provides a better alternative at backup to Wolford. This is why I've been saying Perkins gives the Rams a good backup alternative at backup QB. He's shown something Wolford hasn't, which is developmental progress. Perkins is locked into the Rams through 2023 after which he will be a RFA giving the Rams the potential to keep him or trade him.

That's why I see them signing a QB to groom as a backup next year in anticipation of 2023.

Wolford was clearly not ready to play and yet that is what he's supposed to do. I think it's time to move Perkins into the #2 QB spot because the teams the Rams will be playing in 4 of the next 5 games are very important to playoff seeding. They can't come out and totally bomb like Wolford did if the #2 needs to come in for any reason. Playing behind this OL Perkins will have time and he's much faster than Wolford if he has to run.

I think people’s views one the “wolf man” was skewed by the dissatisfaction with our previous starter at QB … I mean I was never sold on him then and I really ain’t sold on him now
