We could have possibly trades for Williams - but other than that there wasn't really a logical way to beef up the OL. No point in adding more players like Corbett, Noteboom, Allen, Evans and Edwards when we already have five of them to compete for two guard spots

And anyone who seriously thought that a rookie center would have unseated Blythe hasn't been paying attention to McVays tendencies for rookie OL
well Blythe is soo bad we was hoping for something. The guy gets absolutely no push in the run game or passing game unless somebody is pushing him into Goff or a RB!! Overall this draft felt like a luxury draft like a team that just won a suberbowl

But that was never realistic

People forget that Jamon Brown was the starting RG in every single game McVays first year.

Sullivan and Blythe were both average to below average for our Super Bowl run.

And yet we've consistently had success offensively.

A rookie was never going to start over Blythe.

And the OL was good the last five games - once Blythe moved to C

All the top teams with much better Oline than the Rams beefed up in the offseason.

Ravens- early draft picks
Saints - early draft
49ers - Williams

I predict this is Mcvays undoing honestly.

Hate to say it, but each of the teams listed had fewer holes up and down their lineups.

Most Olineman take time to develop. So it's not so much that everyone expected Blythe to be unseated, unless maybe they landed Ruiz. Blythe is on a one year deal. Allen was worse than Blythe is. So if they don't get their Center now, to take over midseason or in 2021, then they end up taking him next year and starting the rookie from day1. Unless of course they have their eyes set on a free agent next March. Or they are convinced Corbett can be the starting center by next season.

Obviously his coach is going to say good things about him, but pointing out his football IQ and locker room presence is great to hear.

"Was a captain of the team" seems to be a recurring theme with this group lol.

But yes I think Anchrum has a good opportunity to make this roster. And like I mentioned in the other thread I'd like to see him tried at Center.

High character guy. I think he has a real shot to make team and contribute.

Obviously comes from the best College Program in the country.

I think that Corbett has the best chance to be a center on our roster - Blythe aside. But Anchrum could easily be a solid backup over, say, Shelton. Allen is up in the air; if he's lost weight due to Covid-19, he might struggle to make the roster...but I'd still put him on the practice squad, if I could (unless he's not eligible, and I'm wrong again, haha.)

Gave a cerebral interview. Reminds me of a cool calm Suh, in terms of how he handles himself in the media. Welcome to the horns T.A.!

I remember seeing the Greg Robinson interview shortly after the draft, I got a big knot in my stomach. He was a freaking moron. He couldn't put a complete sentence together, how in the hell was he supposed to understand schemes and reads? Turned out he couldn't

The difference between that interview and this kid is night and day. Can he play football, I don't know but I think he has the brain cells to absorb the information being given him. time will tell but I think they made an excellent 7th round selection. If he doesn't make it on our team, we will hear his name at some point in the future.

Rams should really remind some of these kids of certain numbers and who wore them lol. I doubt Anchrum even thought about it, but he's thinking about it now.

I 100% agree, they should at the very least sit them down and let them know who, what, where, when, and how outside of the rest they do not to mention having guest speakers from our legacy. I think that sets the bar for these kids coming in.

Jackie Slater's number was retired, and maybe the Big O thinks his should be as well? I am ok with it if the Rams decided to do that. Pace is a HOFer and so it would probably be a great thing. The only problem for the Rams is that there have been so many great players in it's history, maybe they have limited free numbers left? Just a thought...

Tremayne Anchrum bringing versatility, winning mentality to Rams

Tremayne Anchrum was preparing to find the best opportunity for himself as an undrafted free agent during the final round of the NFL Draft when he received a surprising phone call from Rams head coach Sean McVay.

"Honestly, we didn't really know where our future kind of lied," Anchrum said on a video conference Saturday. "I knew I was going to be a day three kind of guy. Getting to those later rounds, we started getting calls about, 'Hey, we'd love to have you as a free agent.' I got a couple of head coaches that called me talking about, 'Hey, we want you now.' Me and my father were kind of making arrangements for that. But, then Coach McVay called and said, 'Hey, are you ready to be a Ram?' At that moment, we all kind of figured I was going to be a free agent, but with the news, we were all really excited."

Both his skillset and college background will fit well into the Rams' culture.

Anchrum was Clemson's full-time starting right tackle in 2018 and 2019, with the Tigers compiling a 29-1 record across each of those two seasons. They also appeared in each of the last two college football playoff national championships, winning it all in 2018.

Though he was primarily a right tackle, he would spend time at guard during the practices leading into the playoff games and championship games in order to give teammates rest and also work on his technique at other positions. That cross-training is an approach run game coordinator and offensive line coach Aaron Kromer takes with young players in his position group.

"I'm comfortable on the right side of the line, mostly, right tackle, right guard," Anchrum said. "But again, I am open to playing any spot on the line."

Including this year's selections, Anchrum played alongside 30 future NFL draft picks at Clemson, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com. He said being around and competing with that talent helped prepare him for the next level.

"Playing for a high-level team like Clemson is a way, way advantage that you can never really underestimate," Anchrum said. "When you have a competition level that high where you play with the Clemsons, the Alabamas, the Ohio States of the world, you know what an authentic mindset looks like. You know what a championship effort looks like from a backend, on the front end, what it feels like, and the day-in day-out commitment that it takes to win. Knowing that, playing with a lot of great players, which I don't think there's a negative to, but it really holds you accountable, staying at that level of competition, staying on your A-game every single day, taking that into the next level is going to be invaluable."

He'll take that mindset with him, no longer worried about having to prepare for free agency.

"It's a little relief, I guess. It takes the hard part out, which is the decision making," Anchrum said. "Now the only decision right now is just to go out and play, and dominate."
