We have a strong receiving group---last year's greatest weakness has become this season's greatest strength. We need a CB group to match. This way our fly guys get challenged greatly in practice, and our CBs & safeties get pushed to their limits . . . strengthening both groups. We need more guys to attack the offensive backfield from the LB and DL positions to raise our D to a dominant level.
On the offensive side of the rock, we need to find out what we have in Sean Mannion. I would love to believe our QB-savvy coaches already know to a certain extent, but Sean has never had to carry this team before. We need adequate backups in case the unthinkable occurs.
Cooper Kupp has actually lived with Jared and those two have been sharing the rock in practice drills for quite some time now. When Robert Woods came over from Buffalo, his first thought after his hello's was to find Jared and start practicing. Unfortunately, Sammy was acquired late and did not get the early time that Cooper & Robert enjoyed to establish an early rapport with our signal caller. I know he stated he would have the offense down in a few weeks, but you have to understand who is talking here. You have a receiver who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, a team with a dominant run game and a poverty-poor passing attack, relatively speaking. Learning the Bills scanty passing offense in a few weeks is one thing: learning Sean McVay's richly detailed passing schemes is another. I still hope to see a breakout game from Sammy this season, even if it has to happen in the playoffs. However, his best Horns games may very well lie in future seasons.
We have to continue to strengthen our OL. We do not only have to worry about replacing Andrew Whitworth eventually, we always have to mindful of Beetlejuice's injury history and have a solid backup guard ready to roll at a moment's notice. Besides, we simply need quality backups, period! Jared and Todd's success is predicated on having Battering Ram OL pieces to smash annoying defenders out of the damn way. In particular, we need OL guys capable of competing with our DL/LB pieces. This way, we strengthen both groups in practice before we turn them loose on the rest of the NFL.
Whether Tavon is retained is anyone's guess . . . it may come down to how well he acquits himself as a weapon/decoy in the remaining games and the playoffs. His hands are not good enough to truly be a core member of our receiving group. His body is not tough enough to be a feature RB. He remains a tantalizing luxury talent that has not exploded enough against opponents as yet to deserve his luxury salary---one of The Fisher King's curses.
Our mostly young TE group has displayed growth over the season, but needs to get stronger & tougher over the off season. Temarrick Hemingway must bounce back from injury to contribute going forward as Sean has every intention of making our TE group fully relevant again. Derek Carrier did a nice job of leading early but appears to have less overall talent than our young 'uns at TE. Whether he is retained going forward shall be seen.
On special teams, we have Johnny, we have The Leg, and we have Jake Mcquaide . . . it's like having manna from heaven---the best damn special teams battery in the league, bar none! The Fisher King reminds us it's partly a blessing from him too.

Pharoh Cooper has done extremely well taking over for Tavon. He lacks our Little Big Man's electric speed & quickness, but compensates with greater strength and greater northward bound direction finding tendencies. Mike Thomas figures to be in the mix, possibly as a backup returner, possibly as our future KR lead guy with his greater speed over Pharoh.
