The Los Angeles Rams took care of an important piece of in-house business Wednesday when they re-signed defensive end William Hayes to a three-year contract.

According to ESPN Stats and Information, Hayes' deal includes $10 million in guaranteed money to be paid out in the first two years. With no guarantees in Year 3, this deal essentially amounts to a two-year deal with the third year depending on Hayes' production in the first two.

Here's a breakdown of the contract year-by-year.

2016

Base salary: $3 million (fully guaranteed)

Roster bonus: $4 million (fully guaranteed, paid out on seventh day of league year)

2017

Cap charge: $5.5 million

Brilliant! So it's really a 2 year contract - $12.5 million. And the Rams can save $2 million if they cut him after 1 year. And the last $5 million is up to the Rams, if he's worth while still.

i look at it as a 3 year contract. year 1 as a starter then moving back as a rotational guy the following 2 years.
