Geez that would be something.

What could make this happen is the Rams offense getting a decent but not overwhelming lead in the 1st half the letting the dogs out rest of the game.

Yes indeed.. that helped the 99 D a lot, for one.

Exactly. And correct me if I'm wrong Shane. But wasn't their pass defense in terms of yards allowed maybe even a bit worse than middle of the pack while their run defense was in the top 5? Or am I mixing them up with the 2001 Rams?

I just saw this at the PD and while it doesn't say much it does refer to Pointer as a Safety. I sent Christian Gooden an email asking about this. If he answers I'll post it.

My apologies for taking so long to reply... I believe your memory is correct there. I will check that out to be sure and get back with you on it later today or tomorrow at latest.

Good news and bad news. Fiirst the good news. I remembered correctly about Pointer.

Here's the email I sent to Jim and bad news answer:

Hi Jim!

Sorry to bother you Jim, but my fellow posters and I at The Rams on
Demand forum had a question about a slideshow we saw at the PD. It
showed a picture of Quinton Pointer and it described him as a safety.
Last we heard he was a CB and we were curious to know if he really was a
safety and when this happened. I'm pretty sure I read an article last
year where either Snead or Fisher had been asked about a possible move
to safety for him and they denied it. Plus, he's still listed as a CB on
the depth chart at ESPN and NFL.com.

Thank you very much for your help on this.

He's a cornerback. . . .jthomas

Sorry, I hit the edit button on my last post instead of the quote button. Now it no longer exists. :boing:
