This is why I’d have rather we beat Seattle and we’d have played Washington at home. Now we have to beat the Vikings, at Philly, and at Lions. Ouch.
At Philadelphia, and then at Detroit would have been the road regardless.

If the Rams had been the 3rd seed, they would have played Washington (as you say).

If the Rams defeated Washington, they would have gone to Philadelphia, because the winner of the 4/5 seeds (Tampa vs. Minnesota) would play Detroit.

Assuming a Lions' win in the Divisional Round, the winner of the Rams vs. Eagles would then travel to Detroit.

So the only difference between the Rams being the 3rd seed (beating Seattle in Week 18) and the 4th seed would have been Minnesota or Washington at home in the Wild Card Round.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Just really impressed that Jayden Daniels could go on the road and beat Mayfield (in his best season) in Mayfield's own stadium.
But I do try to remember it's a team game. :)
I hear you. It’s a great win for the franchise.
But keeping it real, Tampa wasn’t very good, they just play in a terrible division. Washington had a much better record in the regular season than Tampa

I knew I'd read about this recently, a twitter post from yesterday.

Its also been reported that owners don't really want to change it anyways so there's that. I highly doubt it'll change. Just because a division winner doesn't have a great record shouldn't stop them from getting home field for their first game. Winning a division should mean something as there are many variables such as injuries, tougher division, tougher opponents, etc. Don't want to be in that position, win your division.

Remember 2010 when the Hags won the division with a 7-9 record and both the 10-6 Giants and Bucs missed the playoffs? It was stupid... but I still like the current division home field format. It's like hey you sucked in the reg season but your entire division sucked more. I like the current format but want those losing record teams to lose in the playoffs. Imagine a 7-9 record SB winner.

If a 7-9 division winner pulls that off, they deserve it because they still got beat teams with much better records.
