The missed field goal to win in Seattle twisted everything.
If ”The Leg” hits that the Rams are in the playoffs and the chickens are out. I truly believe that.

The losses to TB, SF [the first one], Baltimore and Dallas were ugly enough to make me realize this team didn't deserve the Super Bowl this year. We had some close losses that kept us out of the playoffs [the Seattle loss is the one that haunts me], but inevitably, if you get beat up like we did on multiple occasions this year, it's clear there were flaws to this team. Goff has to be better, the run game was a letdown, the o-line had their issues, the defense as a whole was inconsistent, and the coaching staff failed at times, too.

I'm optimistic about our future mainly because we have the best defensive player in the league, maybe the best group of offensive weapons in the league, and a head coach that I truly believe in.

Ravens third string RB ran 20 times for
130 vs a top defense that had to win.

Gurley ran 20 for 60 yds.

Let that sink in.

O-line. O-line. O-line.

Defense was very inconsistent but that was nothing really new.

There were multiple contributing factors, but nothing as consequential as the inability to run the ball, set up play action to keep the defense guessing, and not very good pass protection.

I know we played like crap during the Pittsburgh game but I blame the loss on that game to the refs

What a few bullshit calls during that game and one of the worst fumble calls in the history of the NFL.

Yes I am going that far on that fumble call.
Well yeah but we got away with a similar bullshit game changing call against the Saints in Week 2. It all evens out even if you hate to admit it. I hate blaming officiating. We flat out were too inconsistent in every phase of the game. The running game was bottom tier this season and made us an average one-dimensional team offensively and easily stopped by the good defenses. O-Line scheme/personnel changes should help immensely. Our defense was bullied by good offensive lines. We need to get tougher in the trenches and also at the second level. We need some bullies. Its going to be hard to add depth with our limited draft picks and cap room.

Oline, inconsistent defense (missed JJ a lot), lackluster Special teams.

Wants: 1, maybe 2 Olinemen, LBer with range speed and power, DT. Competition at kicker, a healthy runningback

They outlined it yesterday. Special teams!. We had no blocked kicks this year. Net punting is down (and we had 23 more punts this year than last....) and our return game is we hope they can at least fair catch w/o a block in the back. 3 less FGs made on 2 more attempts (24 out of 33) and most misses were at inopportune times.... And the return yardage (KO returns) were higher...…

Yes, Goff had problems but w/ teams overloading to stop the run. it was a natural occurrence. But special teams...…… Not really a good excuse.

Another way of looking at it. Three plays away from winning the division:

GZ wide right - simply put, it's a kick most NFL kickers should make and definitely one of his caliber

"Fumble" against the Steelers - as has been pointed out consistently, this was not a fumble - we lost by 5 and probably win by 2 were this not called with how good our defense was playing

Pick 6 against Niners - a ball Goff should never have thrown - there wasn't much pressure, he just failed to see the defender - it changed momentum and I firmly believe we win if not for that

If you change these three plays, us and the Niners are both 12-4 but we would have the better division record

That was only one call in the NO game. And the play was only called dead. NO still got the ball. And I still think we win that game if NO returned that ball for a TD. We beat them handily in that game. I have seen Goff time and again come back after a bad play to make plays to make up for the bad play. Dallas was the only time he didn't.

Pittsburgh was at minimum 4 or 5 horrible calls against us.

OL with no push, It was plain to see from start to finnish of TC and pre-season the OL was in trouble. Add to that the failure of Kromer to realize Jamal Demby was not the best option for first off the bench until after the bye.

Rams HAVE to get a vet FA O lineman to shore up this OL. I know cap space is a problem, but they HAVE figure out how to get bigger and stouter up front or they will continue to struggle running the ball and pass protect.

It all starts up front and the current OL is not winning on the LOS.

Too inconsistent.

Tough division.

While my approach always is; get to the playoffs and make your breaks...

This team never consistently performed to the collection of its parts. It wasn't the right team.

I think losing John Johnson really hurt this defense in the games against Baltimore and Dallas.

If he was in, I think they keep Rapp or Johnson close to the line of scrimmage to help the defense against the run game. I just wasn't impressed with Weddle against run plays.

I would have hoped that Wade would realize that Weddle was hurting the team as a starter and only use him when they needed 3 safeties in the game.

The Rams season can be summed up by two words; wildly inconsistent, you never knew what team you getting one week to the next.

This^ Just too finesse and getting pushed around like babies out there against good defensive lines.

Because we aren't in the NFC East? Just one more win against inferior in-division opponents (NFC East) would have done it.

The Carson Wentz gush fest is in full bloom. Because he willed his team to 9-7. 9-7 and beating up on abysmal Washington and the Gints and winning an awful division.

No kidding. And... they play Seattle next weekend, so I guess we are rooting for them.

Wide right , two 3rd and 16's , and a crap show against an undermanned Steeler team

I was thinking the exact same thing. How close are we to 12-4 and not even a conversation.
Funny thing is even at `12-4 we're not as good as last year. Jesus, one more win and we're in the playoffs.

Sigh

Same play got called a fumble and stood by Matt Ryan this weekend.
Just compared the two

Matt Ryan's arm was hit before his arm started in the forward motion - fumble (ball was lose in his hand but he continued pushing the ball forward without control of the ball)

Jared Goff was hit (not his arm or hand) as he was throwing the ball and lost control of the ball after the arm was in forward motion - not a fumble

Big difference
