Interesting, hadn’t even noticed that happened.
Maybe that is why he may had told Blackburn he pulled something in addition to his struggles, that Evans had to take kickoffs for the rest of the way.
Usually when a kicker who does kickoffs may get the punter to do kickoffs is usually injured. But also it may had been Karty's struggles in addition.

As the season comes down to crunch time and tight games and the playoffs, the margin of error gets smaller and smaller. The FG team needs to be fixed or this team will lose a crushing defeat in the playoffs because we can't count on the FG team to execute routine field goals, even those less than 40 yards. I don't believe it's all on Karty because you can't kick confidently when there's a guy in your face about to block the kick. The PAT miss was on Karty, but the next FG was because the blocking didn't hold up.

It needs to be fixed soon because this team is possibly 7-1 or 8-0 with a good FG team. Now I know nobody expects the Rams to go undefeated, but those two losses stung extra hard because it's the eagles and the whiners. Both losses have impact on the division and potential playoff seeding. I can't even believe we are having these issues now after what had already transpired.

Not to mention I'm sure that Rams opponents are always scheming to block FG's because it's an obvious weakness that still exists and we play the whiners again next week I'm gonna lose my shit if we lose to them again because of the FG team.

The entire PAT/ FG unit had issues today. On the first PAT Karty had to kick it three times due to TWO FALSE STARTS. Not sure exactly what happened on the Missed PAT because it missed badly. On the field goal attempt an edge rusher had a free run in and it would have been blocked if Karty didn’t hesitate and pull the ball to the right. My point is even if there’s a new kicker unless the ENTIRE UNIT doesn’t get fixed the issues will continue. I’m thinking it’s 75% on the Special Teams coaches and 25% on the actual kicker. It’s cost this team 2 wins and will cost more unless something changes.

Kickers are like an enigma within an anomaly within an unsolved mystery on the dark side of the twilight zone with pennywise waiting for you in hiding with a smirk on his face.

Ignore them. Maybe the lurking problem will go away. Or maybe, that evil clown will pop up at the wrong time leading you into a dark abyss at the end of your teams post season run.

Maybe the fear of the clown will lead you to replace the kicker mid season and you will find out the problem wasn’t the kicker, but your fear of the kicker.

Either way it’s a dark catch 22 decision.

Choose wisely my friend.

I don't think the answer is to get rid of Karty but FIX THE DAMN BLOCKING SCHEME. It's not working. This is pro football. Kicking a 35 yard FG or extra point shouldn't be a crap shoot.

I personally do believe it's the blocking that led Karty's issues. There is also the wind in Baltimore and from what I can tell, some snapping and holding issues at times.

How can he have been so much more solid as a rookie otherwise?

But kickers can mentally go south. We have all seen it multiple times.

I am not sure if Karty is now in that headspace, today looked bad and NO, I haven't rewatched the tape yet.

I look at it the same way I do QBs. If you have bad pass pro, your confidence in the protection can decline to the point of madness. Rushing throws, fantom sacks, bad decisions, bad mechanics, it all can get ugly even for the best QB's. Even when the QB gets his O-line stabalized. It takes time to get the confidence back and the timing of that internal clock.

I'ts possible Karty is now mentally cooked. The question is now, If the blocking gets fixed can Karty recover mentally? If so, how long will it take? And how long will the Rams wait before making an executive decision.

BOTH losses could have been avoided had the kicking team come through on routine plays. The eagles game was obvious, the Rams only had to hit one of those two FGs. The 9er game went to OT because of a missed PAT earlier. The tying FG should have been a 1point win, and no OT.

So far, the kicking game has been the Rams’ undoing. This cannot continue for exactly the reasons you stated.

You gave me flashbacks.
