I agree but also think that with a great O-line there are numerous QBs available that we could just plug in to the spot with equal success and not have to pay them so much money.

If you want to look at this year, yeah that is an accurate statement. But I doubt just anyone could perform the way he did most of 2018. Put a great O-line and we know what he can do. We don't know that an average journeyman can do as well. There was a time when the perception was with McVay you could plug in anyone. We see that is not the case now.

Any starting QB will signed from now til eternity will be paid as much if not more than Goff is being paid right now. Thats just the way it is for QBs in the NFL.

Exactly

Starting QB‘s on their second contract are going to be paid and paid well.

Folks need to get over Goff’s contract.

It would be interesting to see Goff in a spread the field, 4 wide, full time shotgun, go fast no huddle like he ran in College.

kinda like the offense that Watson, Mahomes, MURRAY and others operate.

It’s fascinating to me to have watched him become a Pro Set, 11 personnel, play action passer because he HAD NEVER BEEN THAT BEFORE.

We all knew this was going to happen. It was inevitable. There was no way Goff was going to go through his second contract without having a rough patch and we knew a certain amount people would be calling for his job the moment he struggled. Cant make everybody happy. But Goff's not going anywhere.

Goff's 2017-18 years remind me of Everett 1988-89. I sure hope Goff has a lot more good games/years ahead.
Actually Goff reminds me very much of Jim Everett. He’ll never been on Warner’s level I fear. Maybe Bulgers, have stats but not be clutch when it matters most.

Rebuild the Offensive Line AND either Gurley returns to his old form--if medically possible--or find a RB that resembled him in his first two years under McVay.

Goff has used a nice little spin move to shake free and avoid sacks a few times the past couple games. We need to roll him out a bit and mix up the plays so defenses can't just tee off on him with the same 7 step drop every damn play. Throw in some quick hitters and roll-outs from time to time.
Goff is more mobile than he gets credit for. Just need the team collectively to get their heads out so we can finish strong.

I'm hoping, if anything, that this season will be a learning curve for him.
He's getting pressured, sacked, and knpcked around a bit.
Physically it should toughen him up.
Mentally he needs some help.
No question that he has the talent.
I think he'll be fine.
A lot of work to do in the off season regardless of whether we make the playoffs or not.

Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady - all had some mediocres years between years 3-6 before they really became themselves.

All part of the learning curve.

In Goff's years 2 and 3 he had a higher QB rating then Peyton Mannings first 6 years.

Manning year 4 and 5 QB Rating 84.1 and 88.8.
Goff year 2 and 3 100 and 101 QB rating.

It took Tom Brady 8 years to have a 100 QB rating.

People need to seriously chillax.

Goff has proven if you give him a decent Oline he will tear the NFL to shreds to a Super Bowl and a #1 offense. And that is with a mid level defense.

while i agree with what you're saying they played in completely different eras with regards to passing the ball. the average qb rating has steadily grown as the nfl keeps limiting what the defenses can actually do to stop qbs from completing passes.

.

Goff's release looks slower to me. His velocity seems lower this year as well, at least to me. As someone else mentioned, he is NOT an off schedule QB, and that hurts in today's NFL when defenses are so quick to adjust and blitz. Also, he really has to be better at protecting the ball. The fumbles are getting ridonkulous.

I know I might get shit for this, but I really think that part of the issue may be this....

Well Goff is smart enough to know that he can't keep one of those if he's riding the bench.

Nah, but it will get laughs :ROFLMAO:

No way in hell bro.... the only people i know that think goff is worth a shit are Rams fans.
You might want to end a post like this with the words, ".... in my opinion".

Anybody in the know saw the difference real coaching made in the game of Jared Goff.
The egos and dedication of these coaches make them think that they could get similar or even elevated production from Goff.
Coaches also know that we were not successful in rebuilding our offensive line and that this would cause shakiness in Goff's game.
They also know that Goff is incredibly durable and that he is still young and learning.

If you don't have a quarterback at the moment that you believe in?

Goff looks like gold.

No one is giving us 2 first round picks for Goff. Sorry dude... yeah that's technically my opinion - but no way.

Before this year... good chance of getting a #1 from someone. But after the struggles this year not getting two #1's.

Actually in my opinion Goff hasn't proven that. He looked very good behind one of the best O-lines if not the best and the best RB in the NFL. After the drop off in the run attack in 2018, Goff looked very average in the 2nd half of said season. Goff has a lot of work to do this offseason.

That's your opinion.

If it makes you feel good to state your opinion as a fact, you go right on ahead. ;)

By the way, "the struggles this year" have nothing to do with Goff and everything to do with the offensive line and shaky play calling and whatever they're doing with Gurley.

And there's plenty of general managers in the league that understand this.
In my opinion. :)
