Anybody notice when he said would you rather have Christian Ponder or McVay calling plays for Goff, not would you rather have Goff or Ponder, but McVay calling plays for Goff. A subtle shot, but still a shot.
Interesting breakdown of the running game but I don’t get how it’s somehow a negative, and the comparison to Peterson was confusing. If a rb is to win mvp he needs to get 2000 yds? TG might end up with 2000 yds combined, so does that count? And since Peterson wasn’t much of a receiver Gurley should stop catching passes?
Let’s flip this around for a second, there are more qbs throwing for more yards than ever before, you can’t touch a qb or a receiver. It’s like 7 on 7, playing defense is almost impossible. Clearly it’s going to be difficult for any non qb to win mvp but this idea that Gurley doesn’t break enough tackles and that he goes where the play is designed seems kinda absurd. And why “why Gurley shouldn’t win”? There’s lots of guys who shouldn’t what’s this guys problem with Gurley? I mean odds are either Brees or Mahomes are gonna get it, both are deserving.
This is a question without an answer, Gurley is great in this system, Brees is great in Payton’s, same with Brady. The system thing is so tiresome and so lazy. Brady and Brees have been with the same coach for over a decade, I would say they’ve mastered their systems.

Their are some amazing offensive performances this season. As a fan I am just enjoying the ride, can't wait for the playoffs.
Mahomes, Goff, Gurley, and Brees, Ryan, Rodgers maybe the QB,s cancel each other out. Luck having a great comeback season....

It is hard to ignore Brees 21 - 1

As a Saints fan I am not sure if I want Brees to win the MVP, and frankly I’m not sure you guys will want Gurley winning the MVP either.

Not since 1999 has an NFL MVP also won the Super Bowl. In that same period 12 MVP winners played in the Super Bowl, so it’s not like the winners haven’t had a chance in the Super Bowl.

Let Pat Mahomes go and win the award.
Well the Rams were the last team to do it, sooo... let the cards fall where they may.

Then call it what it is, the Most Valuable Quarterback award....Gurley at 2200+ yards from scrimmage and 31 plus TD's by a RB would be just as historic....Last time LT did close to that, he won the MVP.

PS: If Todd did that this year and didn't win it...It's an absolute Bull Shyte Award...after which known as the BSA.
Maybe maybe not.
I get what you're saying.
But to say a running back should win it because he had an all time season for a running back.....well, that's the exact same argument that would be made for a QB winning because they had an all time great season.
As we all know QB always get more credit.
Goes back to it all being subjective.

Without TG, we would be a needy Wild Card Team or worse...Most Valuable Player for the Rams

Agreed.
The Saints without Brees completing 80% of his passes and a 21/1 TD to Int ratio would be in the same boat.
Round and round.
Both are certainly worthy of winning it.
Which is Mahommes may win a split vote.
Haha.

I'm gonna keep bringing it up, but I think we need to take the word "system" back for ourselves and coin it as this offense's nickname. We'd have The Greatest Show on Turf and The System as the most prolific offenses in franchise history!
I'm partial to "The McSystem".

MVP awards are won with performances in big games. If Gurley went off against the Saints and we won people would be talking differently.

Excellent point. I'd rather Gurley "just" got OPOY & the Rams hoist a Lombardi.
Buuuutt..... I'd rather Brees gets MVP & NOT hoist a Lombardi LOL

The harder question to answer is why Aaron Donald shouldn’t win it.

Including QB bias, I think the voting should be Brees, Mahomes, AD, Goff, Gurley.

To be impartial I'd be ok for Brees to win it (at the current rate of performance) but I'm also with @Mackeyser on why AD99 isn't in the discussion? I think, after the Rams game, Mahomes is going to start to unravel a bit...
