The honeymoon is over for Wade.

Past time to produce. Past time to see him as the cute old man.

Brockers and Suh must produce. Peters and Joyner lock in.

Plug the holes. Barron ride the train or hop off at the next stop.

Maybe its not exactly a good thing to hace D9nald playing 95% of the snaps and Suh 90%.

The lack of establishing any type of rotation where Donald plays say 80% of the snaps and Suh 70%, might end up being the difference between a DL that is cooked come playoff time vs one that has built depth and has fresh starters.

Somewhere before the season and during TC, I heard/read Brockers has a shoulder issue that will require surgery after the season.

I was excited for the Suh signing when it was made.
He has been solid but not great.
Using the $14M he is getting paid how many players could the Rams add?
Not big name guys who have made a Pro-Bowl. But solid guys that fit a 3/4.
Brandon Mebane for example signed a 3 year $13M dollar deal this past offseason.
Two DL and a LB for Suhs money?

If Wade was getting results I wouldn’t be saying a goddamned word.

Any style, any scheme, any players he chose would be fine by me.

But he’s NOT getting even decent results despite all the new “stars” added on D and despite having complete autonomy on D matters.

Kinda reminds me of the dreaded Fisher conundrum, tbh.

So, “more time with his family” might be in Wade’s future, you know?

We get it. You want results and are convincing yourself that Wade either doesn't care enough or doesnt know enough to figure out how to fix it.

Not everyone agrees Wade is the problem and that sending him packing will prove to be better for us.

Everybody wants results. I mean no offense whatsoever, but that is not a unique perspective for sports fans.

If you drive a company truck that breaks down on you while on a delivery and you call your boss to explain the situation and he just says he is "results oriented" you would call him an asshole who isnt helping you do your job. You didnt break his truck.
Well Wade didn't break our defense. He is just trying to drive it. He inherited a 4-3 defense, very, very few draft picks to install his players, and a handful of FAs this past offseason.
It isnt Wades fault that Brockers and Barron and Joyner all got worse or that he lacks depth in key positions.
Shit happens sometimes. That isnt an excuse, its a fact of life.
Really good coaches are hard to get. A proven one at Wades level is even harder to find. But it does not matter how new or old they are, without the right players executing, it doesn't matter who you have.

Yes, sometimes shit happens, badnews.

But your company truck driver analogy is flawed. Not gonna waste my time explaining why. Should be pretty obvious.

Look, here are a few facts. Not opinions, but facts.

Wade is the DC and NOBODY is interfering with him in any way.
Wade, therefore, is ultimately responsible for overall results of his D, whether “shit happens”, or not.
Wade approved every single one of those player additions plus draft picks for 2 years.
Wade coaches his players, sees them in practices and in meetings.
We are seeing missed tackles to an alarming degree.
We are seeing far too many blown coverages.
We are seeing far too many missed gap assignments.
We are seeing lack of hustle from too many players.
We are seeing too many points scored on us.
Our run D is embarrassing.

I think that the above are all facts.

As always, the buck stops on D at Wade’s desk.

Curiously, this Wade discussion is eerily similar to some of the old Fisher discussions. I wanted to fire him after his first 3 years. Some posters said that it was always some damned thing OTHER than Fisher’s fault. And the Rams waited 2 years too long to make the decision to fire Fisher. Well, nobody’s complaining about Fisher’s firing now, are they?

I’m not advocating for firing Wade just yet. Quite. But I AM suggesting that we talk about the elephant in the room. And Wade’s D is the elephant in the room.

I wonder why they don't have AD shift around the line so at least the O-linemen have to make decisions about how to block him rather than the same 2 O linemen just ganging up on him.

Would also like to see the Rams send 5 after the QB so AD can have fewer double teams or one man will run free at the QB.

Maybe Wade isn't blitzing because he thinks we have given up big plays too much when doing it.

Regrettably, Wade prefers to give up tons of big plays WITHOUT blitzing.

I don't know....I see things through Rams colored glasses. Obviously the running back gashes are due to LB's total undisciplined gap technique. Littleton looks like Ogletree sometimes....even Laurinaitis missed his gaps. People are wishing Quinn was back, but he played 60% of his time in LA due to injury/illness. I agree, he was very effective but he also had some bad, undisciplined games as well. Peters has been much better since the NO game. Who knows why Talib took a left to Inglewood on the one long pass. Opponents schemes of quick releases and then having options against the Cover 2 leaves open zones between the LB's and DB's. QB's read how the coverage reacts and then finds either the deep route or the soft zone opening. Now, we have played probably one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. Didn't get the bye until after week 12 (unheard of for us before). I'm not trying to make more excuses, but every "elite" team is going through a very tough stretch right now. Suh has been getting big pressure, he knocked Foles around. Fowler is getting better each week. As I mentioned, I think Peters athleticism will continue to benefit the D come playoff time. The stupid unforced errors (false starts) and weakened offensive line play are just as much of an issue as the defense. Now, can Kelly and CJ do enough to help Goff over the next 2 weeks? Only time will tell.
