looking back it shows The Rams have not had great pass rushing since The NFL started counting Sacks.
Dont know about that, Rams have had a league leader from Greene 85-92 (High mark of 2nd in league), to Carter 95-00 (High mark led league), to Little 98-09 (High mark 3rd in league), to Quinn 11-17 (High mark of 2nd in league) to Donald 14- (High mark led league)
Of course this doesnt include Youngblood who was finishing up his career when the sacks became stats (had total of 20 between 83-84), and you can throw in some individual season performances Wilcher 12.5 sacks in 85, Jeter 11 in 85 & 11.5 in 88, Gilbert 10.5 in 93, Farr 11.5 in 95, O'Neal 10 in 97, Wistrom 11 in 2000, James Hall 10.5 in 2010, Long with 13 in 2011 and 11.5 in 2012, and of course Fowler's 11.5 last year

Sounds about right. I'd go over with that too btw simply because AD is capable of going off even when things aren't set up for him, as well as the fact I expect Staley to be an aggressive blitz caller. IMO that was a big reason why McVay went with a younger DC. So mid 40s is probably fair and hopefully we'll see much higher IF one of these guys not named AD steps up. (y)

Exactly. The Rams as a franchise have been blessed on both lines tbh. It's been the skill positions in fact that let a lot of our teams down, from QBs to WRs, TEs, and Secondaries.

And the periods where the Rams lost for many years consecutively (mostly under Georgia Frontiere notably enough) was due to them ignoring the lines, and in particular the OL.

Where we've been shit on over the years the most in quality is TE. Also in spite of the GSoT and probably due to unimaginative schemes (lot of basic teams in our history offensively) we're probably average at best at WR. Secondary in general I'd say we probably are also middle of the pack historically speaking if you totalled them all up.

I think your giving T. LEWIS to much credit & KISER is not a speed guy. That is why he fell into the 5th rd.It shows on the practice field.Young to me seems a little small? Just ball are thorn over his head while, while Kiser has trouble getting to the sideline from the middle of the field.

What about OBO ??? I believe he will get 7 sacks in 2020.

I also think Greg Gains & Morgan Fox will get a lot of inside reps. Both players interact with each other’s play.

I think you will be surprised by Lewis. He's a legit first-round talent. His issue is he is raw in some areas so at this point he's a situational pass rusher. Kiser ran a 4.66 prior to the draft which is fast for a guy that is 6' and 244 lbs. That is what most SS run, for example, Jordan Fuller timed at 4.67 and he's 6'2" 202 lbs. Cory Littleton ran a pedestrian 4.73.

Okoronkwo isn't fast (4.77), isn't explosive, and is a one-trick pony with his bullrush. That is why he dropped. Many felt his talent wouldn't translate in the NFL without a few years of work. At this point IMO he's #3 on the depth chart at DE. He lacks the speed to play JACK or SAM. He showed he was a liability in coverage last year. As an example, Jonah Williams is a prototypical DE at 6'5", 275 lbs, 30 bench reps, and ran a 4.67. If Williams practices like his game films then Okoronkwo could be on the bubble.

Don't get me wrong I like Ogbo but he needs to separate himself from the pack and frankly, I don't see him beyond a backup role. Now look at Lewis and you see a prototypical JACK LB who can rush the passer, or drop into coverage. Not just zone but also man coverage. Just watch his games and you will see a true first-round talent who dropped due to injury concerns. He could end up being the steal of the entire draft if he stays healthy. It's not even close to who has the most talent between Lewis and Okoronkwo.

Let me put it this way. Pit Havenstein against Okoronkwo and I bet Rob wins most if not all the snaps. Now put him against Lewis and Terrell will beat him 9 times out of 10. Lewis is fluid, agile, explosive, and fast with good hand play, all the things that a lot of OTs struggle with. Okoronkwo hasn't shown any of that. If an OT locks onto Okoronkwo he usually stays that way.

Disagree on wide receiver. Even if you subtract the GSoT, you still have Crazy Legs, Fears, Ellard, Flipper, and a lot of other lesser, but no less valuable, receivers. I'd say we're above average, especially when you add the GSoT.

I agree with everything else.

Donald definitely helps to counter our lack of talent on the edges. But I don't see him racking up a 20 sack season again. Would be nice sure but I think in this scheme somewhere around 10-15 is going to be where he falls. Why? Staley isn't going to want him moving laterally as much as he has in the past, as it creates big run game opportunities. He's going to need to play a little more disciplined as well as do a little two gap at times as well in this defense I would think, and maybe even be subbed for in certain high-run expectation situations.

And I don't like our edge options overall. Way too many questions and injury risks, and guys who don't have slam dunk film of consistently doing it right. Line that room up next to some others like the OL room in terms of requiring unicorns and rainbows to my eye at least.

But hey I hope someone steps up on the blindside at the least. That's the key, since we overpaid to give our new DC a strong side edge who he knows and who knows the defense. I know I'm sounding sort of negative here but it is what it is. It's possible we win a ton of lotteries in 2020 but is it likely?

IMO Obo is a potential 10 sack guy if he can stay on the field. At Oklahoma he moved around in that defense and did different things off the edge as well as off ball (the guy has great instincts), which bodes well for him in this defense, but he still has to beat that injury thing. And we need him this year because if he can't stay on the field then what. So yeah the question poised in this thread is not one I am confident with.
I think you nailed it, sure Donald is going to be expected to have better gap disciple, and you’ll see him even play two gaps, but in all he’s going to have the lion’s share of opportunity, which is going to be only predictable aspect of this front. I would lean toward the low side of that estimate.

I just don’t know about Ogboronkowo’s impact.

Kevin Carter — good call !! Him and Wistrom. Farr ?? Gilbert at least The Rams got something back for him.
Management was not all that good at times.

I’ll just go by what I’ve seen with my own eyes. I judge my opinion on NFL experience OBO has had.Talent wise Lewis is the better player.

Kiser is coming off a knee injury,so will see how that works out. I do think your break down is limiting the use of DB’s. D.Williams is going to be a starter,or at least on the field for 80% of the game day Reps.

J.Williams is a who know ?? To compare a udrfa to a 3rd yr.
5th rd. Veteran.

I guess will venture this at a later date. I can’t change my view from
most of your points, but will observe it.

peace !
