I have no problem with him playing again.

But you want to brush his past under the rug and say it shouldn't have an affect on how teams and fans view him. Like it or not he did make a choice. He chose to get high instead of make millions playing for the Browns and their fans. That and his recent actions will all be weighed by any team looking to give him a contract.

The reports are he's making all the right choices lately. What happens when he stops living with his agent and has to fend for himself? Best of luck to the man. But don't expect people to all of the sudden jump for joy that he's made a couple choices you deem to be right. He still has to earn trust.

I can see your point, agreed. To me, following him for 4 years, he's already earned it. Hopefully others will turn around.

As an NFL Player, you need to uphold the standards and rules of the company you work for to the highest degree. Totally agreed.

What I disagree with is people saying "He made a choice to keep smoking instead of playing in the NFL. He may now regret that choice, but he made it and has had to deal with the consequences"... People keep bringing up the past like he hasn't already paid his dues... hasn't already jumped through those hoops to get reinstated. Some of his suspensions were due to past history that he had to pay for.

You know what happened last year? The League wanted to reinstate him... you know why they didn't? Because HE CHOSE to go seek professional help to curb his addiction. To mature. You know the reasoning behind that? TO ACTUALLY HAVE AN NFL CAREER.

We'll agree to disagree... but to write him off because of his past while totally disregarding the progress that he's made, the positioning he put himself in to get reinstated and STAY in the NFL... is shortsighted and a little degrading.

He'll play again. Sorry.

A couple years ago I read a demographic survey separating gender, age, race & politics for which folks tend to watch a particular sport. We also know that red states aren't as forgiving as blue states when it comes to drug use, even if the red state guy drinks a case of beer & quart of whiskey every day.
Obviously this is overgeneralized, but conservatives tend to watch golf, Nascar, Football, the NHL and the rodeo. The more liberal minded may be more inclined towards tennis, the NBA, soccer, horse racing & extreme action sports.
Many more blue states than red states have legalized or decriminalized pot use, and we all probably know some older people which still associate drug use with the devil, again without any ethical concern over their own consumption of alcohol. I'm not going to advocate anything myself in this post, but there are partisans on both sides of the issue, much like all politics, which aren't likely to fade quickly or silently. jmo.

I'd be pretty pumped to see Calais Campbell be the big name guy - although I know it's the other side of the ball that needs the resources.

I stated similar thoughts earlier in a couple of threads. If you think about CC could make the front 7 unstoppable. He could move around on the line as Donald could. Donald, CC, Quinn, Tree, Barron, Brokers/Hayes and a new LBer on the outside. Phillips could attack from anywhere and everywhere. Fun to think about.

Guys... Denard "Shoelace" Robinson might be a good signing to go a long with FA WR.

Great hands, good 40 speed, could backup Gurley very nicely.

Benny is a better player. Might as well just keep him.

Has Johnny Manziel earned your trust as well? Just out of curiosity, when did Josh Gordon earn your trust?

Well, at the very least, he earned a look-see when he decided to NOT come back last year and focus on getting himself straight.

How can he earn trust, exactly. It's a catch-22. He can't earn trust without playing, but fans at least don't want him to play because he hasn't earned trust.

Considering when he was straight (and he probably wasn't all that straight at the time) with crappy QBing, he had nearly 1700 yards. Couple that with the lack of wear and tear on his body and he's going to be a very young 26 or 27, hitting his prime without a few years of wear and tear.

Couple Gordon with Garcon and Austin and hot damn, that's a WR corps that Goff will have no excuse not to really start lighting it up.

And, by getting Gordon on the cheap and Garcon to a reasonable payday, there's still room to add that OL that we really need. May not be enough for Kevin Z, but there's going to be good guys out there.

Cutting Barnes and Saffold would create close to
7mil in cap space. Not saying Saffold is going to
be cut,but I think it would be a consideration from
his injury history alone.
You need to see McVay's interview. That's not going to happen. He says he likes both, Greg Robinson he questions. From Snead's stand point they want Greg Robinson to hold himself accountable . I think he needs to look in the mirror & more gAme tape. He was drafted so young that immaturity might be playing a role in his development. Kromer is a solid coach. Greg Robinson might be ask to play guard.

There's a difference between earning trust and taking a low risk chance. I'm fine with signing Gordon in FA on a cheap deal. If he gets suspended, it doesn't hurt us. But I don't trust him.

And if we do sign him in FA, I'm going into the draft not counting Gordon as a member of this team. Basically, I'm going to draft as if we never signed him. If he plays, great. If he doesn't play, we're ready for that.

Until the kid puts together 16 games, I'm not buying that he will. Some can say that's unfair, but that's what he's earned. Kicked off Baylor, Kicked off Utah, suspended two games, suspended 11 games, suspended 16 games, and then suspended 16 games again. Since 2011, Gordon has played 35 of the 103 games he was eligible to play. The 68 games he missed were all due to suspensions.

I challenge anyone to convince me why I should believe this kid is going to stay on the straight and narrow.

I have no issues with the Rams taking a no risk/high reward chance on him, as long as they prepare as if he's not going to play in 2017.

We'll see what the Rams do, but I have a hard time believing that they're moving forward with the same OL. Barnes was a major liability (I'm prepared for the different opinion button to be hit). Saffold wasn't a liability, but there was some issue between him and Greg. They just didn't work as a tandem.(then again, Saffold didn't work any better at LT)

Personally, I think they're going to target Ryan Groy to play Center.

Yeah , but then why let him test the market ??

I'd try to re-sign him. I think he's a valuable role player. Quality KR, quality third down back, and good change of pace runner.

Didn't realize San Clemente High School is now a QB and Football powerhouse. Travis Wilson backed up by Sam Darnold, must be rough!

They just won The State Championship !!! So the program is being run right .

Maybe with Bennie finds true market value & The Rams sign him to a muti-year contract. He is coming off an injury. I know NE wanted him at some point .

Barnes & Saffold are guys McVay said he liked on film . I've got to believe him on face value as of now ?? Weather it is that time of year or not ? I'm not sure how I read him yet. I've got to call him & let chips fall were they may be ??
Bonufide has been pounding the table for a LT or LG . That is a question mark with being stuck with GRob right now. He is going into a contract year as well.
The Rams will upgrade The O"Line !!
-- I think they need depth at center as well . Rhaney is not the answer at all.
---I've stated strongly as long as The Rams keep Chase Reynolds & Rhaney there depth is weak .

I'm not taking anything the Rams are saying at face value right now. We'll see what they do. FA is right around the corner.

Exactly
Flyers are great, but when a spot on the final 53 is in question you want a guy who's going to be there for 16 games.

-- that is true . I have to think when McVay talks highly of a Ram player in public right now !! It has to hold face value. Then what does your team & players think ?? If you talk about a position it holds a totally different weight.
I think McVay is about building trust & relationships with his players. A big difference from these last 5 years.
Being a players coach is not about giving players extra time off , it's about building them into better players if men.

It took several years but I finally convinced my 84 year old mother to get her card.
