Of course. But the position need is the position need around this league. As a GM your job is to stack that roster with pieces the head coach can win with.

Right now it's going to be in vogue to say well look at Philly winning it all with a so-so QB. But they had an epic OL, a HoF level RB, and a top defense. So in a way it's like drawing parallels with the Ravens when they won it with Dilfer. I think the Eagles had a better QB obviously than Dilweed but point is you can win in this league different ways but doing it without a difference maker at QB is very hard and requires a top-notch roster in the other positions, which for many GMs is going to be very tough to pull off.

Obviously the Eagles GM is one of the best around. But the goal is not to win a title here and there, at least it would not be for me. It would be to win four or five in a decade. And you're not gonna do that without a long term stud QB in place.
The best I heard it is a stud QB raises the floor of your team during their time with you and gives you more bites at the Superbowl apple in aggregate.

Tyler Shough. The 3 guys in the Football media business whose opinions on Quarterbacks I respect the MOST, Greg Cosell, Louis Riddick, and Todd McShay, ALL Say Shough is 2nd Best QB in Draft. That's good enough for me. Of course McVay and Snead would have to agree with that as well.

Give me 6"5"", "old man," Tyler Shough after 1-2 (or 3?) more seasons of Stafford.

Whats your point? That good players get drafted later? Like Kobie Turner & Puka Nacua?

Yes, that happens which is why one pick committed to a developmental QB, that has upside, is not a big deal because you can draft impact players later. So thanks for making that point.
My point remains the same. Pick 26 is too high for my taste when it comes to picking a developmental QB

Where would you put the mix from Notre Dame (Riley) on that list?
Way I see QBs who struggle as passers in college is that moving to the NFL is going to be even harder, so it is tough to project them to suddenly emerge as a good passer when facing defenses that scheme to take away your best tools and disguise what they are doing pre-snap. It's tough out there for young QBs man.

So Leonard feels like a midround type pick to me. Maybe late round if you don't want to let him have a year or so to try to develop as a QB. He is very bad as a passer.

Riddick and McShay have Ward and Sanders as 1 & 2

I dont disagree with him, in fact I have brought up that throw against Notre Dame a bunch of times. I love the kid and would be psyched if he ended up a Ram
I'd prefer Dart or Milroe but only care what McVay thinks

Exactly. Agree. All up to Mac.

I think this is a great year, with a LATE 1st Rounder, to take a shot at getting Stafford’s successor.

I do too. It's an unreal opportunity for a kid to sit back and learn from a future HOF QB, and being coached by a future HC in McVay while not having to see the field since Garoppolo is the backup

Yes, that's the beauty part, total Redshirt year for the Draftee.

QB3 in '25 (see ya, Stetson)

Next year he's promoted to QB2 behind either Stafford or Garoppolo.

Thats why I dont buy the idea that next year's class is better. I think Dart, Milroe, Shough or McCord with a year under their belt would be as good if not better than any prospect coming out

Yes.....YES!!! The time to pounce is NOW! Would be such a beautiful thing to see us pull a "Green Bay," and sit our Franchise Quarterback of the future for 2 or 3 years. Our last 2 1st Round QB's both started in their Rookie Seasons, including Bradford starting opening day.

This is why I keep saying Shough should be slotted ahead of Dart, Milroe, and Sanders. Because he should be able to play earlier than a lot of these dudes. He's older. But he's also smoother and wiser at the job and should have the easiest time translating to the NFL. Now I realize upside is a factor here too, but Shough does have upside. Not a cannon but all the arm you need for any offense.

He's also a big kid. No height restrictions or concerns at 6'5".

Cam's definitely QB1 for me. But Shough could very well be QB2 for teams and rightly so. Dart in comparison has issues in projection due to that offense he runs, no way he's ready year one. Milroe is just rough as hell so he needs a QB Coach build from the ground up, that will take time. And Sanders is an asswipe I suspect, but outside of whether he's gonna have attitude and shit he's also a Cousins type pocket QB and those guys never go high first round, so if he does that team fucked up IMO.

Also this is similar with McCord, in that given the above maybe some team is saying "well shit why not just take McCord." This draft as a result may end up being a wild ride round 1-2 as all this shit settles in. :laugh3:

The age doesnt really bother me but it is a bit crazy that Shough is actually older than Trevor Lawrence who is entering his 5th year in the league....

I know Gruden thinks every kid is great when he does his thing, but if the Rams dont go early on a qb this kid would be a great late round pick

Gruden kicks ass. Does the best interviews and knows his shit.

Henigan just seems a bit limited physically. Will probably be around a long time in the NFL as a backup. If we don't go QB early he is a good option, though I'd probably prefer Rourke even with his knee.
