I feel like we have done enough on defense but the 3rd WR is still critical in case of injuries. I get the TE game we are playing but feel like we need that solid #3.
While I love CJ Daniels I can't believe he is going to be what we need this year nor are the others on our roster.

So who will it be?
Odds say Diggs. There is still Aiyuk who will be released, Deebo Samuel and Tyreek Hill who are FA's along with Keenan Allen.
There are others but we need one. I know many here are not interested in Hill but, but if healthy he might represent the speed we need to stretch the field and run some sweeps.

Thoughts on who might be best?

We have a thread or two on this.

For now its probably Whittington. But how important is the WR3 when you have a group of talented tight ends who are versatile? Sean has used 13 personnel more than anyone and even spread them out looking like 11 personnel.

Let’s call it WR2B for when/if Nacua/DAdams become unavailable for any period of time.
Yeah, I think 3rd WR needs to be broken out from who plays besides Nacua and Adams in 11 personnel. My guess from earlier is that between Fergy and Klare we'll be operating in 12 more often but running 11 personnel plays (one of those two guys in the slot and occasionally out wide). The question then becomes what receiver takes some snaps from them (at the end of last year and in playoffs it seemed that Mumpfield overtook Whitt and Smith). Maybe Mumpfield improves some in his 2nd season or Daniels takes the job.

What's dicey is who plays at X or Z when Adams and Nacua go down. That's where maybe a vet would be most helpful.

As it stands right now, I expect Rams to do what they did the season we brought Robinson in which is wait to see how the WRs - and Klare - are performing in OTAs and minicamp and if it's not to their liking, they'll look to bring a vet or two in. Otherwise, I don't expect a move.

Basically, sit tight till June 16th (watch some NBA and NHL playoffs).

Mods, think we can add this to the "are we better at pass catcher..." thread....

You could say the same thing about almost all the positions - critical in case of injuries. QB, LT, RT, OC/guards, Edge, CB, etc.

This isn’t 1980s college football where you have 90-100 man rosters and no salary cap. Every team is at the mercy of injuries. There is only so much quality depth at every single position that you can have on an NFL team these days.
