The NFL has now made a point of showing how bad the officiating is.
I think, generally, the refs do a good job with PI.....in real time in a very fast game.
With the replays, in slow mo, by the fourth view everyone is saying it is obviously PI.
Not overturned.
We all know the one big over turn will favor the Pats late in a playoff game.

I agree. And to go further IMO this expectation for the refs to see everything on the field and a play to be perfect is fucking madness. What they're doing is catering to the more casual NFL fans and media trolls, trying to prevent situations where they can bandwagon in social media over egregious errors like the NFC Championship game.

From my perspective today's game is an inferior product to yesteryear in terms of game stoppages. Which doesn't bother the NFL since it means more money. I just feel like they need to do a better job striking a balance between getting it right and providing an uninterrupted product.

Agree.
But it is inferior in other ways as well.

Have any PI penalties been called after replay and a coach's challenge? How many have been reversed? Maybe the league doesn't want to enforce its own rule. Maybe they put it into effect to placate those who were outraged over the NRC non-call in the playoffs? I dunno what the officials who review theses PI challenges are looking at.

The flow of the game is really getting messed up with replays. With all scoring plays reviewed... it really chops things up, and with commercials, football was already pretty choppy.

I am a huge supporter of replay, but it’s out of hand and I’m not sure it’s really resolving all dispute. It has with some, but shifted it elsewhere with others.

nothing has changed, the same amount of challenges are there to be used by the coaches. i'm not sure why they keep throwing the red flag for dpi. the refs have made it clear they're not changing the call. the flow of the game hasn't changed but fans know it's a wasted stoppage as the challenge has no chance of being successful. desperation flags.
