I would be interested in some information as to which OL'er is working Andrew Whitworth's LT post when Kromer give's our old man #77 a break in practice? Is it Edwards or Evans?

I said it last week & I will say it again Whitworth's performance with our other 4 OL'ers was fair enough for our 3rd preseason game(y);)

I am sure that AW is trending slowly downward in his on 2019 game day performance level from previous Rams seasons, but having the old guy in that lineup with three first year starting OL'ers is invaluable!

Having three first yr OL'ers starting is a gigantic issue to overcome @ this time. Demby never suited up for a game last season so you could consider Demby a rookie. I would continue to go with Demby until Austin Blythe returns & not make any changes. The offense being sluggish with this current OL should not be a surprise:confused:

Hard to find LT's. Edge rushers are are so athletic these days.

Rams OL is down as a whole according to PFF.

All I know is ever since Andrew Whitworth arrived we have been an elite team.

This team will gel right in time - going into the playoffs. Why peak in September and we are still:

3-0

Whit isn't the force he was 5 years ago, but the man still rarely gets beaten. He rarely has bad games. I think he's still a good LT, at minimum.

In answer to the question if he is showing his age, the answer is absolutely. That said, is he still worth retaining? Not at the salary he's currently making. The Rams would never insult him by asking him to take less. I think they are planning on simply not re-signing him at the end of the season.

Even if they did re-sign him, it would only be on a one year deal. Noteboom is struggling a bit at LG and I see that as a positive to some degree. It means Joe is learning some hard lessons that will serve him well going forward. There is no question in my mind that Joe will be the LT of the future and that would probably start next year.

I think Evans is getting a red-shirt year to learn how to play LG and he will start there next year. Overall I think this new o-line is playing as well as can be expected. That said I also think they will improve with each game. They have faced some tough defensive fronts and have played well enough to win and will only get better.

I agree fully with your first two paragraphs....good comments!

It's my belief that Kromer made the decision to go with Jamil Demby @ RG when Blythe went down because he sees JD as his top prospect @ this time @ starting LEFT OG not RG in 2020 with David Edwards as his top reserve for both LT/OG. Bobby Evans was erratic & all over the place in his four preseason games keeping me from getting a good read as to where his best fit will be in the future of this OL .....that remains to be seen for me.:cautious:

I feel that OL'er Chandler Brewer best position will be Right OG.

To start he has a new guard next to him, and then a new center next to that guard, being none other than Roger Saffold.

Then you add the injury to Blythe and you can tell that there's been tremendous miscommunication at the interior. Then, don't forget the speed rushers Havenstein has struggled against, it's pretty obvious why Whitworth has been on his own out there, against some very good competition recently.

So, sure he may be getting older, but he's has been one of the few people putting together a consistently good performance.

He's dipped a bit since last season. But that is probably due to the quality of edge rushers we've seen so far. I suspect that will prove out over the course of the season so no reason to panic as of yet.

Would not surprise me if the Rams are in full replacement mode though. They'd have to be crazy not to be. A replacement at LT they are comfortable in has to be there on next year's roster. And yes it might be Boom or even Edwards/Evans, I'm just not certain of anything wrt the next wave of the OL replacement plan right now.

I will say I think Whit retires end of this season and joins the staff. I believe he'd be an excellent student for Kromer, and the Rams will have a young and full McVay era OL with the exception of Hav.
