This is why the Rams drafted Hopkins because they are looking at the situation and figure they will get outbid for Everett next year. Some team will throw a lot of money at Gerald Everett. All the Rams did was develop a TE for someone else. Hopefully he won't be in the division. Everett runs a 4.62 and Hopkins 4.66, with Kittle at 4.52 which is fast for a TE. But to give you a point of reference, Hunter Henry is a very good TE and he runs a 4.68. If Hopkins resolves his drop problem which is really focus related, he can be another Henry type of TE. I mention Henry because Hopkins plays like him and it's why IMO the Rams were so high on him. But they also have Jonah Williams who runs a 4.67 with good hands and worked out as a TE at his pro day as well as a DE. LOL

But that's the way a smart front office handles the roster. Guy's gonna be a free agent. We already have a stud in Higbee. Replace the #2 with a draft pick, let him walk, collect the comp pick and replace him with a cheaper salary. It's not so much, we developed him for somebody else. If he didn't take so long to develop he might have had a deal by now. Like I said, smart front office. Hell, if the rook shows development quickly, trade Everett for a draft pick.

I don't see Everett getting any kind of a real payday. Production and health haven't been there tbh.

Loved him at Iowa, wanted the Rams to draft him, @jrry32 & many others loved him too. They will pay Kittle and I truly wished he played for somebody else because I do like the way he plays, but now the only thing I wish for him is not being injured, that & Jimmy G throw every ball to him low or high.

Kittle's performance most closely aligns with the average production of players making up the 10 highest-paid pass catchers. Consequently, Kittle would be justified in insisting that he should be paid accordingly as one of the NFL's top receiving threats. Such an extension would be four years in length (new years) averaging approximately $17 million per year with close to $50 million in overall guarantees, where right around $30 million would be fully guaranteed at signing.

The Rams are going to have to decide to pay Kupp or not. He is projected to upwards to 19M.

Kittles catch percentage is insane at 79.4 on 107 targets he caught 87. Kittle would get that type of money if he was lining up as a WR. He is reportedly the best blocking TE in the NFL. Hate to say it but, the Whiners are getting a two for one deal with Kittle. He makes the Whiners contenders. I think he going to want top WR money and should get it. They made a good deal with the Jimmy G. contract by paying him more early on so they have no excuse not to pay him. I hope they screw it up and he becomes a free agent. He could get 20M as a free agent.

I dislike the whiners but I admit I respect Kittles play. Without him the whiners arent winning the NFC west imo. Hes as important to that team as Gurley was to the 2017-18 Rams. I'm hoping he breaks the bank and puts the whiners that much closer to cap hell or gets traded out of the NFC west or preferably out of the NFC altogether. As long as it hurts the whiners in some way im happy.

COULD GEORGE KITTLE CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH 49ERS AVERAGE $20 MILLION PER YEAR?

The San Francisco 49ers have one of the best players in the NFL. To keep George Kittle long term, they may have to pay him like one, too.

Speaking about Kittle on NFL Network recently, former scout Daniel Jeremiah shared a stunning revelation about where Kittle’s contract talks might be headed.

“I THINK HE’S GONNA FIND HIS WAY CLOSER TO 20 (MILLION) THAN HE’S GONNA BE CLOSER TO 15 (MILLION),” JEREMIAH SAID. “BECAUSE THERE’S HYBRIDS, GUYS THAT CAN DO A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS AND THAT’S THE WORD WE’VE USED HERE WITH GEORGE KITTLE, BUT THEN THERE’S ANOTHER LEVEL, I JUST CALL HIM A UNICORN.”

Speaking to the “unicorn” notion, Jeremiah elaborated:

“THERE’S NOBODY ELSE LIKE HIM IN THE NFL, HE IS ONE OF ONE, THAT CAN DO EVERYTHING HE DOES AT THE LEVEL AT WHICH HE DOES IT. THAT TO ME MAKES HIM, IN MY OPINION, THE MOST VALUABLE 49ER ON THAT TEAM. HE’S 26 YEARS OLD, HE’S GOT HIGH CHARACTER, HE’S A LEADER, THESE ARE THE GUYS YOU ARE OK WITH MAYBE PAYING A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN YOU’D WANT TO.”

George Kittle is better than his stats

Kittle really is a unique player. He is better than most left tackles at dominating defenders in the run game. Not only that, but he’s so good he can afford to literally laugh at guys he’s taking down with pancakes.

When it comes to pure stats, Kittle shows himself to be among the league’s best. The two seasons, he’s racked up 173 catches for 2,430 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s one of the NFL’s best after the catch and has become a player nobody wants to tackle.

But due to his prowess in the run game, Kittle is even better than his stats show.

49ers and Kittle not close to a contract

Given the fact that Austin Hooper is earning $10.5 per year on his deal — the biggest long-term deal in the NFL now — it would be stunning if Kittle got anything close to $20 million per year. However, his agent is making it abundantly clear that he’s not looking for a tight end contract. Instead, he’s working for a George Kittle contract.

That’s why the 49ers and Kittle are reportedly far apart on any long-term deal. It’s worth noting that general manager John Lynch has made it clear he has no intention of letting the dynamic tight end leave the franchise.

If Kittle doesn’t land a long-term contract before the 2020 season, he’ll earn just over $2.1 million playing out the final year of his rookie deal.

I think Kupp will come in somewhere around Thielen. Maybe a bit above him. He's basically a mini-TE in this scheme though (has been the Rams' version of Jordan Reed in some ways) I just don't see him resetting the bar.

Kittle should reset the TE bar IMO. He's a focal point for the scheme in the passing game and the TEs are harder to find than wideouts (need more time to develop due to a lot more inline blocking). Finding guys who can play TE is one thing, but having a guy develop in all phases like Kittle did plus have his agility and overall receiving skills on top of that you have no choice but to pay him IMO.

I really think the 9ers should dedicate at least 50% of their cap to Kittle. Maybe even 75%. Hey, Lynch - he's THAT valuable. You can't afford him to be unhappy, you need to pay him.

I notice Overthecap now has Kupp at $16.7 Mil estimated market value per year the other day. That $19.4 Mil estimate before seemed really high to me Thielen who is at at $16.2 seems like a nice comparison. Kittle is worth more than either one of them. I highly doubt they let Kittle go test FA. Too bad the Whiners got their hands full on this one.

Nice page of comparisons but, no Theilen.

With a likely cap decrease, any big contract has to be examined more closely than in years past. Chiefs got Mahomes and Jones.

KC is looking into the first % cap contract for Mahomes. Jones, I think he walks next year.
