Nothing good can happen at 1:30am out on the streets.

Get home, in bed and prepare for the upcoming draft - biggest day of your life to date.

Or a disrespectful punk.
Or a drunk college kid. Either way, it's not a crime to be a disrespectful punk, and it reflects badly on law enforcement when they arrest people because the officer feels disrespected. I see no reason for concern on Branch's side of things.

If a cop tells YOU to kindly move do you comply or resist?

If a cop tells YOU to kindly move within a WEEK before the most important day of your life, a day that affects your complete set up for life, do you swallow it or make an issue of it?

Not talkin laws here, talking brain and common sense.

Honest answers please.......

1. It depends. Am I in a place where I'm not supposed to be or violating the law? If not, I ain't moving.
2. He did move. The officer was not happy that he smirked while doing so and apparently didn't move far enough.

So....a week before the NFL Draft, that you're to be DRAFTED in, you're willing to risk ANY SORT of bad publicity for the sake of your ego? Do you always not listen to law enforcement? Do you think the cop just did this for arbitrary reason and didnt have a GOOD reason?

Taking your questions in order:
For my freedoms, yes.
No.
I think the cop did not have a good reason.

Thats pretty fuckin stupid. Just like it is for this kid. But everyone's gotta make their own choices. Haha, im sure some teams will see this as a "positive."

Usually a bit of both in the end.
Yeah. I was going to say, "possibly a little column A, a little column B". Not being there, it's hard to say. It all seems pretty dumb. As far as Branch goes, if teams weren't concerned about his attitude before, I doubt it amounts to much. If they were however, it could cement that concern.

I'm not even Branch's biggest fan...but that's absolutely nothing compared to what some (read: me) have gotten arrested over when it comes to cops. Standing on a public sidewalk and moving when asked, even if you have a bit of an attitude doing so, is not worthy of being arrested over.

No one's saying he SHOULD have been arrested. He's a fucking moron (IMO, of course) for being unable to AVOID being arrested 5 days before the Draft! BIG difference!!!!!

Maybe so, but I believe that our freedoms recede when we acquiesce to government overreach. That's a principle I'm willing to be arrested for. If that's stupid, so be it. I'm a principled fool.

I expect most teams won't care either way. If they believed Branch had character concerns, it might lend more credence to that view. If they didn't, they'll likely conclude it was an immature kid and an overzealous officer.

I don’t like cops, and many I have interacted with, but I do have enough common sense to respect the authority. You’re asking for trouble if you handle the situation otherwise.

Interacting with law enforcement is NOT the time and place to question or exhibit your anti authority, or even your feelings or opinions on freedoms.

Follow instructions and shut the fuck up.

Love your posts jrry, i really think you're omitting the "5 days before Draft day" part of this whole equation.

Its just...DUMB of him. I find that inarguable.

EX-ACT-LY! Is this so fuckin hard? How is this not known by EVERY fuckin citizen already???

I haven't even paid attention to it because I'm not interested in him as a pick. What was going on that the cop asked the kid to back up for? Also while I'm a freedom first kind of a person is it really necessary to smirk at the cop while you comply?
