Based on this thread's discussion of narrowing down the field of wide receivers worthy of the 13th overall pick as well as the depth of this class at that position, I want to bring up what I think I saw Jake Ellenbogen mentioned recently. Disclaimer: I think Ellenbogen is alright but I'm not a devoted fan or such. I believe he mentioned how Kenyon Sadiq tested with elite level speed and is built like Calvin Johnson; he thinks Sadiq can and should be converted to WR while saying Robert Woods was brought onto the team staff to do such things. He also compared Sadiq to Brock Bowers as a TE.

I'm not necessarily against the Rams selecting a tight end. Kind of the opposite, actually, as I've been looking forward to Snead providing McVay with more weapons at that position given how effective the Washington Redskins offense was during McVay's time there due to his utilization of multiple TE's. To be fair, the Rams supposedly have targeted that position in the past. I believe McVay wanted Evan Engram during his first year with the Rams back in 2017 before the Giants selected him in the first before the Rams had to settle for Gerald Everett in the second round. I know they wanted Brock Bowers in 2024. While the Rams selected Terrance Ferguson in 2025, I can't say I was a fan of that pick, though I'm hopeful he'll work out.

In any case, it's quite possible and likely that the Rams will select two receivers (WR or TE) in this draft and, as I said before, the depth in this year's class at that/those position(s) could yield a starter-level player as a 3rd WR or maybe even 3rd TE in such sets late in the third round. I've been kind of leaning towards Sadiq as a fallback option but mostly as a tight end, but I'm intrigued at the possibility of him as a wide receiver. I just don't know how feasible it is.

By the way, Ellenbogen likes Jordan Tyson and Sadiq for the 13th overall pick but prefers Sadiq over Tyson because he's "spooked" by the latter's injury history in that scenario. He loves Omar Cooper, Jr. as well and prefers him over Makai Lemon despite acknowledging the latter's better route running and elite "route pacing". Here's a time-stamped video that references his discussion, except for the aforementioned Sadiq-Megatron comparison and Sadiq transition with help from Bobby Trees, which I apparently heard elsewhere:

I mentioned before that with Sadiq's blocking ability, I could see him as a H-Back type who could be devastating in the run game with his blocking, while teams still having to worry about him in the passing game.

To me that could be a unique weapon and something like that could really intrigue McVay. Now, hopefully he is worthy of that pick, if they take him, and McVay doesn't lean that way just because he wants to go nuts with the X's & O's.

Anyone thinking Germie Bernard could be a second round target? Reminds me a lot of Woods. Good route runner, decent speed, good hands. Can play inside or outside. He’s not flashy, but do we need flashy?
I seriously doubt he lasts until we pick at the end of the 2nd. I also would not love trading up for him. Much better players in the 2nd round IMO (Ponds, Rodriguez, potentially several WR's that drop, etc.)

Shanny and SF will be all over Sadiq.

That's why we need to take him. All the arguments made regarding what McVay could do with him are right on. He would allow them to run devastating 12 and 13 personnel sets; he's as fast as most receivers and will be running patterns vs LBs and safeties. He can block at the line and downfield. AND - SF, Philly or Detroit won't ne able to get him. WIN WIN IN MY BOOK!

Who's trading up and for what? From the sounds of things after pick 9 everyone wants to trade back.

There’s always teams looking to trade up. Some team may feel they have to have Lemon or Tyson (or Sadiq) over Boston or Cooper. Who knows, but your statenent is not an absolute (as you knew)

Its funny. Seems like every time they trade back they end up with a player who doesnt pan out, (Ferguson not included) and when they stayed put, they got the guy they wanted
Trades like what Atlanta made with the Rams last year are why teams will be hesitant in making trades now. Its like a rolling precedent.

I had a reply typed up but as you said its the same complaints every time.
The Rams failed they didn't trade up for a player someone wanted. Doesn't matter if no team wanted to trade down with us. The Rams took a guy 3 picks to early they failed. Doesn't matter if no team wanted to trade back or a team right after was going to take that guy.
They paid to much or got too little in return.
None of us including you or I know how much the Rams value a player or a pick. But it won't stop complaints no matter how good the Rams are at team building. There are always complaints.

If Cooper and Boston are "close enough" to Tyson and Lemon, a trade-back may be in order.
Or you just take the player you want. This is the heart of why I think Boston is in play. He's a notch below Tate but not all that far off the mark if you want the big frame and hands outside the hash. And it's the same with the slot options after Lemon, with Cooper and Concepcion. Cooper adds that RAC threat, Concepcion adds serious juice.

The power of taking your dude first is that you're getting to pick which one you want, moreso than because there's massive difference in the quality of options. There is some dropoff for sure, but some of these guys it doesn't look all that great to me.

Jake is fine, he loves the Rams and is doing what he loves. He used to hang out here and somewhat test his schtick. He has and continues to grow.

I think this "converting Sadiq" is a bit unnecessary. The present day league especially the Rams allows for flexibility in the receiver position.

Kenyon can do a little of both which honestly helps to disguise our intent and hide tell's, generally you are creating advantages and the execution is always king. If it's a receiver I am fine with any they take as they are likely looking at the same 5 or 6 as we are.

Tyson's injury history is still something I am concerned agout sorry to my buddy @El Chapo Jr
Sadiq, with all those measureable didn't have a TD over 40 his whole carrer 15 - 35 he was excellent. ( I didn't see combine Sadiq on gameday but I did see a very effecient TE, not anywhere near what I saw with Bowers)
Lemon, well the playbook, assignments, combos.... slowhis progress
Cooper is rising and honestly I watched 4 or 5 games but do not have a stron position. He is more athletic than I thought
Boston, only one semi concern that did not show up on tape, speed. Otherwise I love him

No need to apologize, Tyson is my guy at WR that I truly want. Others are going to lean another way and that's on cuz they are wrong anyways :zany1: :laugh4::laugh4:

TBH, Tyson is the only WR at 13 that I like at that spot (if medicals yada yada). Honestly, Tyson might be the only player at 13 that I like there that I think will reasonably be there.

I'd rather be in the late teens/early 20s in this draft and let the draft come to me given that I don't think there's much to rate the players in the 2nd half of round one much different from each other except in what flavor of a guy do you want.

Or you just take the player you want.
It doesn’t have to be more complicated than this. The Rams don’t pick again until #61! Just grab the one guy you absolutely want and CAN get.
This is the heart of why I think Boston is in play.
Yes, we are both riding that train, brother.
