Which WR excites you the most for the Rams?

I know that my eye test says there are probably a dozen TE’s in the league that are faster, twitchier, with better body control and more elusive than Fergs. Not the TE i was looking for in that draft.

Agree with that. That’s not the TE i was looking for. Especially not at 46th overall in a great TE draft.

Yeah I really wanted Fannin pounded the table hard for him. Sad he went to Cleveland but he had a decent year.

I will pound the table for Sadiq forever. He's as fast as about any WR in the draft, yet his routes will be against LBs and safeties. McVay can go nuts with 12 and 13 personnel as well as using him as an H back. No way to match up against him with Puka, Adams and Ferguson in the lineup with one of our backs. And he's technically a TE, thus will have to be paid like one and not like a more expensive WR in later years. If Philly gets him it will be bad news. It will take a lot of guts to take another TE, but Snead and McVay are smart enough to see there will be a season or two to take advantage of defenses with the various sets they'll come up with using this combination. Add to that a much-improved D and a SoFi Celebration will occur.

Some guys are just built better for the pro game. Look at Luka's production in college - very blah. Yet no one would say he doesn't have the intangibles and drive needed. Sadiq is considered the best TE in this year's draft, and when you combine his blocking ability with his speed, coupled with his less-expensive cost, there's too much value to pass up. And he's a great team guy too, right up the Rams' values.

I like Denzel Boston (Washington)..... He's 6-5" and is a beast with long routes and wins plenty of battles. Not sure if he's worth our 13th pick, but I think he would be a hell of a compliment to Puka.

Whether it’s Boston or a different favorite prospect, it’s a long way to go from #13 to #61. A lot of good WRs and CBs are gonna go in that area.

The cowboys took a lot of heat when they drafted Travis Frederick late in the 1rst round one year (2012?), but they applied the same logic, “he won’t be there when we pick again.” Frederick helped the cowboys build the best OL in football. He was easily the best Center in that draft and the cowboys were rewarded for drafting him.

A painful lesson Snead learnt in his first draft.

Instead of getting a hof lber he ended up with a useless rb and a dt that couldn't stop eating and couldn't get on the field.

Yeah, I see the vision with Ferguson. I don't think any of us were pounding the table for him but I think they just wanted a true inline TE with some speed and he fit the bill. If nothing else, he re-invigorated McVay's love for the TE position which can only help us moving forward.

I was really excited about Ferg in the beginning of the season, but watching him he just don't seem like a cerebral type of player. Watching Higbee (when he's healthy enough to get on the field) and Parkinson, they know how to find the dead spots in a zone, where Ferg seems to cant figure out where he's supposed to line up. The only plays they call for him is.......... "Fergy go long and jump as high as you can for the ball."

Maybe next season he will be better, but I still would rather have the other two guys on the field for most snaps.

Same. And he went a full round later and was far more productive last season. Painful.

To be fair, he was also not on a team that had Puka, Devante, Higbee, Parkinson….

Ferg had the luxury of being brought on slow. I think Ferg ends up being very good and this point becomes moot,

Ferg still has a chance to be something in this offense. He was open for what would have been some key plays for us in that final stretch of games but either didn't get the ball or when he did get it things worked against him. What I still like about him is he's a sneaky mover, covers more ground than you think and is smooth in his routes for his size. The very best TE weapons tend to show as rooks, and he didn't do that, not like the best ones do. But this dude still could end up being that top TE this franchise has never really had, the one that just logs catches and yards and big moments year after year.

Mcvay answered this question earlier this year. He said you want to draft BPA more so than focusing on need.

If they have Boston rated as BPA or in the same pod as BPA, then take him. But if he's rated in a pod several rungs down, then you don't take him. Not picking again until #61 isn't a good enough reason to force WR at 13.

I'm about convinced that if we stick and pick at 13 its Tyson or Sadiq. Question I'd have, what do we do with our TE room then? Dump Allen? Ferg gets further buried on the depth chart? I know Sadiq could line up in slot, but would we?

Then there’s Gunnar Helm who I liked and talked about. Was productive on a bad team. Has everything Fergs has. 4th rd to TEN

Arroyo I liked. Not a blocker but can catch and run. Does EVERYONE we draft have to be a good blocker ??
I mean, I get it but IMO it’s cost us in terms of speed, athleticism all over the offense.

I think Sadiq would start on the bench. He would effectively redshirt with this group. He's not La Porta or Bowers, who were advanced in their pass game usage with loads of tape showing them being the dude in their offense who moves the chains. Either of them would start year one in this room.

Sadiq has undeniable upside, that RAC is real. But him becoming the slot weapon in this offense would require some workup on scheme and the role and his hands.

I think the dude the media are sleeping on at TE is Stowers. He's also no La Porta or Bowers, but I expect his translation window to the NFL will be quicker than that of Sadiq. And he also has upside.
