He's a hell of a talent. I was thinking early on he's a top 5-8 selection for sure but as I looked past the film at the injuries I got concerned. So I will say about him the same thing I say about McCoy, which is when you have a major fast twitch athlete with significant knee injury it makes me think "why not just take someone else." Particularly when there's a lot of options for someone else.
If the Rams take Tyson I'm all in of course. With fingers crossed. But I think the two best options to lock down that big target for Stafford are going to be Tate or Boston.
I remember looking at film of Harrison Jr when he came out, and thinking his greatest trait was that he was a big target over the middle. He didn't wow me at all. So when I loaded up Tate and watched what I could find on him I was very pleasantly surprised. And same with Boston. I think those two plus Tyson all have the potential to give the Rams that legit X threat they have not been able to draft.
But then I wonder... Am I overvaluing the big wideout. Possibly.
Lemon is an undeniable advantage in that he can do returns. And initially, it won't hurt to have the third wideout running returns. But then you also have Concepcion, who is much closer to Lemon on film than the draft projections insinuate. I think they're both fantastic if you're looking for separation. Just straight leaving dudes. But Concepcion is probably a better run threat underneath, which is why I say he won't get past Ratboy (unfortunately). So if the Rams want either of those two they need to take them prior to the mid 20s, which means trade down or trade up.
Anyway I voted Boston for those reasons. And this class is good enough for the Rams to take one of the smaller two early then circle back for size later. Though I prefer they don't do that, because I want some fucking defense. Offense has had enough TLC. It's time for the defense to get a major shot in the arm and this is a great draft to do it not to mention we have 4 picks in the top 100. So get McVay his toy early, then roll up your sleeves and defense it up.
