I'm betting the 9ers man up on him. They're going to see the Ravens did well in man coverage on him, but the zone calls for the most part are where he did his thing. Guy as smart as Coop if you want to remove him you gotta dedicate players to it i.e. doubling him plus man up on his ass. That will be SF's gameplan. Ratboy will prioritize him not setting records.

So I would expect Odell to have a big game. He should be ready now to take on the load if someone devotes resources to Coop. Also the 9ers don't have the greatest secondary so Odell should BBQ whoever they put on him if they do lock Kupp up. IMO this gameplan will probably feature Odell quite heavily as I imagine the Rams expect that.

First lets play to win the game. Shuttle, screen, and short passes can add up quickly but 12 and 136 is a big ask and win the game. It's possible and maybe needed to win. We'll find out. Is triple crown in the bag already?
I can't see someone catching him on Receptions or yards but I believe Chase is close to him on TDs

I appreciate the sentiment from Coop but disagree with the premise.

The game evolves we can’t separate every record by the advantages of a new generation/era otherwise we’d end up with so many categories' that records would be meaningless. Good on him to acknowledge it’s a thing, but a record is a record and don’t forget the next guy that comes gunning for it will have that extra game as well…..hell maybe even two by then or maybe they’ll change another rule to make it easier to play O who knows shit changes. Break the record and be happy.

Yep, the rule changes have had a bigger impact on records than the extra game… an extra game with 1975 rules wouldn’t net the receiving numbers we see today

If he doesn't break any of the NFL records... I'll have to be happy with him winning the triple crown and having one of the top 5 seasons ever by a WR.

Yards seems more likely based on his typical production, but the more I think about it, receptions would be easier to manufacture if he gets close. If he gets to 10, McVay can easily call a couple high percentage plays to get him to 12.

Not to take anything away from Cooper Kupp or other receivers but if you look at the top 10, every one of them had a franchise QB or HOFer throwing the ball to them.......Matt Ryan, Steve Young, Ben Roethlisberger (twice), Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, George Blanda and Matt Stafford (twice to 2 different guys)......and the only one who didn't was Ike (Chris Miller). Miller was good but he wasn't like the others.

It would be really cool if he could end up gaining 192 yards

That's a tall order with one game and a team who will likely focus to shut him down. I sure hope he does but would not be shocked if neither happens.

Would say that he definitely had the short end of the stick when it came to QB in his record-setting year.

McVay pulled Kupp (and Stafford) out of the game early in most blowouts this year. It happened at least 2 or 3 times. I agree with the decision to do so, but had it not occurred, Kupp might already have some of these records in his possession. They were blowouts and the team was cruising with Kupp racking up the numbers. The whole 16 vs. 17 games debate could also be put to rest then too. Worst case, Kupp would likely be in position to shatter some records with even a pedestrian outing on Sunday if he had not been pulled. Then again, that assumes he would have not gotten injured in those blowouts by staying in the game. Which is no sure thing!

We all know Cooper Kupp is having all all-time great season and he is on the verge of eclipsing some single season records.

Coop currently sits 3rd all time in receptions with 138 and 5th all time with 1,829 yards.

If my math is correct he needs 12 catches for 136 yards to be number one in single season yards and receptions. Personally I think he goes out and has himself a day and gets both done.

What say you?
All of the above. Both records are within reach.

The yards record strikes me as more significant and maybe more likely. That's maybe 2-3 big plays and and a bunch of Kupp's normal shorter conversions.

Kupp can get 11 or 12 catches but it takes a lot of targets. It's possible if McVay plays patient ball possession in addition to going downfield. Which I hope he does.

Cooper Kupp is just being humble. His biggest accomplishment this season is that he might be the league leader in all three categories... # of catches, yardage, and TD's for a receiver. The Triple Crown per se. Has nothing to do with # of games.

Edit: Although I do agree that the single-season records, #of catches and yardage, are pretty historic too!
