Where are these rumors of 10+ and who are they? I see like 4.
Dante Moore is obvious but might regret returning if he has a down season, Arch and Sellers as you mentioned disappointed and returned but would have been fringe 1st in this class, and then maybe Sayin but the size complaints will hit hard during the season and before the draft. And then you've got a handful of guys like Mateer, Maiava, Leavitt that weren't thought of us as 1st round talents even though they were draft eligible in this class. What am I missing here?
All anybody could talk about before 2026 was Nussmeier, Allar, Klubnik, Beck... and now? Afterthoughts and mid/late round flyers. The grass isn't always greener...
Don't forget Sorsby (Cincinnati, now Texas Tech), Chambliss (Ole Miss), and Mensah (Duke, now Miami). Both Sorsby and Chambliss were thought of in circles as potential first-round picks, and Mensah was highly regarded as well.
Obviously, not everyone is going to go in the first round, but there's a lot more talent in 2027 than 2026, and with Simpson's injury history and other warts, I'm not so sure I'd take him over Moore, Sellers, Sorsby, Mensah, Maiava (if he has another good year at Southern Cal), or Chambliss. Then there's guys like Mateer (Oklahoma), Leavitt (Louisiana State), Mestemaker (Oklahoma State), possibly Dylan Raiola (Oregon, probably won't go into the draft and be Moore's successor...but stranger things have happened), possibly C.J. Carr (Notre Dame), Julian Sayin (Ohio State), D.J. Lagway (Florida) - and that's not even mentioning the fact that another quarterback could surprise us like Simpson did.
I've never been a fan of Allar, Klubnik, and especially Beck. Nussmeier fell off hard as well. The only guys I'd come close to drafting to where they're projected are Payton and Green - and even then, I'd rather go for Stafford's successor in 2027 where there's a lot more to choose from.
