Not in that last game. I'm not sure how many snaps he got but he completely whiffed on at least two blocks. One of them, the guy ran right by him and blew up Stafford. He was in the middle of nowhere looking for someone to block while his guy ran free.

I'm a Ferguson fan but he really needs to learn his blocking assignments at the line. He seems to do a pretty good job downfield, but missing a downfield block isn't going to get your QB killed or a run stuffed for a loss.
Yeah, was interesting watching Warner's analysis of that. I wonder if he was actually supposed to just release or hold the block longer due to assignment and he missed it. Otherwise, that was a total failure of the protection call and not the player.

Probably and I caveat this with not having watched him much at all but I wouldn't love taking him in the 1st as I see him as a prospect in this moment. If I'm betting, I think he goes in the first though due to position inflation.
I also think he goes in the 1st because his grandfather is on record as saying that they've heard from many NFL front offices and every one of them said he'd be a 1st round pick. It was that info that informed his decision to declare for the draft.

We can take it with a grain of salt since it is a family member, but I see no reason for him to lie.

Yeah he got schooled a bit in the last one. But he's a rook and he'll learn from it.
Yeah. I’m definitely not condemning him because of the last game. He looks like he’s got a lot of upside. He just can’t be whiffing on blocks like that. He’ll learn.

I saw that. It really looked to me like he was supposed to chip and completely missed. Then he ran out like he was looking for someone to block instead of looking back at the QB. I have never seen a protection call where the TE runs by a blitzer and then doesn’t look back for the check down. I have to guess that’s on Ferg.

I'll have to go back but it looked like it was a chip inside to the tackle to pick up but the tackle was blocking down. Something got screwed up I have to think. Execution across the board was horrible in protection though with multiple players screwing up assignments it seemed or just wiffing.

That’s possible. But when have you seen that the TE then doesn’t look for the pass? He just kinda trotted out looking forward. It looked like he was looking for someone to block. Not even like he was running a route. Maybe he misunderstood the play call.

Think I'll make time for that game. What I hate about the small school types is film is hard to find.
He has a few highlights on his X feed. Apparently the game is tonight on NFLN.

There is also a kid from Missouri State, Jacob Clark. Another 6'4" 225 lb kid. Hard to find highlights on him. These guys are probably practice squad guys.

Felt like Allen had a great scheme that night and some of his calls caught us flat footed. In the one 503 referenced there's really no excuse of course, he should have recognized the threat. But on the gameplan side McVay didn't exactly have his way with Allen, it was pretty balanced I'd say. And when players don't see what they are coached to expect on a given play they can freelance and do dumb shit.

Speaking of which Seattle is going to adopt a lot of what the Bears did because they were effective in slowing McVay's offense. So he has to be ready to snuff that shit out and force them to adjust. MacDonald will open the game with that shit for sure.

Reads like a high school roster. Don't recognize many of them. :laugh2:
