With Stafford coming back and the big dance in So Fi no way McVay will be spending two seconds training a rookie. This thread should now officially retire.
On the contrary, what better environment for a QB to learn the ropes than studying the Stafford/McVay way

I think he'd be an interesting project I'd put him 2nd after Simpson for the QB's I would like us to draft.
I just hope he's 6'0 or taller
What a disservice done to this kid. Should have just prepared for the draft and participated in all the post season stuff.

Sorry, too short. Gadget Day 3 type project - sure.
Day 1-2 requires better size for my wants/needs (that sounded kinda gay)

I like his arm. Of that glut of smaller QBs that should go round 3-5 or whatever I think his arm is noteworthy.

Look, Willis is gonna be a hot commodity. I bet there are some teams that are convincing themselves that Willis is the better option to Mendoza (not that he is to anyone but the Raiders).

You're taking a chance on Willis for sure but sitting in GB and learning and playing in the McShanahan system. I'd be licking my chops to get him. Dual threat who's worked on his passing and processing for a long time. I think Willis has the higher ceiling right now than Mendoza and Mendoza is probably the more polished passer (but maybe just by a bit now).

Mendoza's comps are Goff or Cousins. Willis could be a Jackson-lite type player and that's not a dig. Like that would be great. (And when I say Jackson-lite, I mean how good he is as a pocket passer - people don't tend to watch Raven's games so they don't actually see how good he is from the pocket and just go off priors when he first got into the league).

I like Mendoza. Big tough kid with a great attitude and strong family. I liken him to Trevor Lawrence. Maybe not as strong an arm but similar IMO. So not generational but may be a good NFL starting QB on the right team. I wouldn’t sell the farm to get him though.

If the Raiders were to hypothetically put that pick on the market, there would be multiple teams after it. And the Rams would probably be one of them.

But it's not going to happen because the Raiders need a QB.

They will definitely take him, whether they should is debatable. Looking at it from the long view, trade it for multiple picks, preferably to another bad team. Then next year you have a couple of shots at a top 5 pick in what should be a deep QB draft. You also gain assets this year to help build a team and prepare it somewhat for a rookie QB next year.
