Im a pretty loyal person but I think I'd screw my team for $10 mil too.

Trust me, I'm not a Duke fan by any means, but Miami and Mensah are totally in the wrong in this case. He gave his commitment to Duke, they didn't search for another quarterback, and then Miami comes in and both of them screw Duke over.

I don't like that. There has to be some regulations, some form of law in this Wild West of a transfer portal. Believe me, I prefer this over the kids literally struggling, getting career ending injuries and ending up with nothing from college, but there has to be a limit.

We agree on this. It's totally wrong, but without regulation, I understand why it happens. From the players perspective, I'm not turning down $10 mil on principle of treating my team right.

We agree here, too.

It's all out of hand. Gotta get somebody in there to make some rules and regulations.

Maybe:
Charge them for entering the transfer portal.
Charge teams a percentage, like the luxury tax in MLB
Charge teams for each new acquisition, as well
Limit them to a number for each season (4? 5?)
Limit the players to 1 transfer in their career

Plenty of shit can be done to control it better than it is now.

Don't like it? Go get a real job with that degree you earned for FREE, if you fucking earned it in the first place.

None of these guys have earned degrees yet since this is all pre-graduation.

I stand corrected. They were provided a FREE education and haven't even accomplished that yet. It's all about the benjamins. I wonder how much money the OGs make blocking for these guys?

Can you imagine being 19 or 20 yrs old making $4-5M a year? There is going to be some sad stories of guys who pissed their money away and or worse, got in trouble because they can't handle that kind of money and get themselves in with the hangers on. The agents most likey protect many of them, but you know there will be cases of unscrupulous agents/relatives or friends who represent these kids and screw them over.

OK. So Simpson turned down offers from other programs for supposed high dollars - uhuh. Why exactly was Alabama not offering? I understand Bama has a lower budget than some but I'm kind of doubting Miami is offering Simpson 6.5 and Mensah 10+++. Was Alabama moving on to their 6'5" 2nd stringer from last year and wasn't going to have a place for Ty? What exactly is the deal?

Sorry. But I'm just not impressed by him. He not only looks slight, but he appears to play slight. And personally, I don't want us to draft a lower 1st or 2nd rounder for Stafford's replacement if he doesn't have really good upside and tools that could be honed by NFL coaching as he sits behind Matthew for a year or two. I don't see Simpson as that player. He seems pretty accurate but there doesn't appear to be much zip on his passes for the most part. I'm not sure he'd get away with a lot of them in the NFL.

Of course I reserve the right to deny all of this if the Rams actually draft him.
I'm with you, I'm a firm no on the Simpson kid. I say draft another position or trade back for a future 1st. Gonna be way more QB options in that class.

I cant imagine how someone could graduate from Duke, (or the like) and with a 5-10 mill head start on life could possibly fail
But that's why you hear about all these athletes and lottery winners who pissed it all away

PS you all know how much i love this thread..
BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA...

It’s funny that of all threads people want to go away, this is one of them. We simply can’t know if the Rams are or are not going to take a QB in the first.

If any thread merits the response of “if you don’t like it just pass it by” it’s this one.

And “Next Year”’s draft looks to be loaded with QB prospects
