I don't think it matters really. The Ram offense will score. The problem is how will Morris/Pleasant/Lake play the defense. If they play aggressively the Rams win this game no matter who they have as QB1. IMO the Niners will take a step back this season. They have more question marks on their roster than the Rams. However, the Ram's offense is intact with an improved OL. Sam Darnold as a starting QB could beat Morris' scheme if he continues to play uber soft.

IMO the season hinges not on the offense but on how the D is played. It's less a matter of personnel as they have talent on the D, as much as how that talent is used. Use the D talent aggressively and this is a playoff-caliber team. Played soft as they did last year and it will struggle to win games because the offense will have to score every possession to win.

The average in the NFL is 12 possession per game. If Morris concedes FGs on half that's 18 points assuming no TDs. IMO the Rams need to score a minimum of 24 points a game on average to win most games. This is why I'm saying Morris is the Ram's worst enemy. Allowing long drives by the opposing offense will limit the number of possessions the Ram offense has per game. The Rams win consistently when their roster isn't decimated by injuries and they can control the clock. Morris makes that far more difficult. Morris' "I don't give a shit" attitude is why his defenses are consistently mediocre at best. Morris doesn't embody the "We not Me" culture that McVay promotes.

IMO if Morris' defense ends up in the bottom half of the NFL rankings again, Snead and Kroenke should force McVay's hand. That is why with Lake and Pleasant on board, he won't have to go far to fill the position. In 2019 Wade Phillips D finished 17th with less talent than Morris had yet he was fired. Morris' D was ranked 21st last year and 15th in 2021. So anyone saying Morris is a good DC only needs to look at the bottom line in the last two years with a distinct downward trend. This is more proof PFF is full of shit. A good coach elevates the level of his unit's play. Morris clearly has done the opposite.

I think the only reason Morris is still on the team is that Snead is hoping he gets a HC gig and the Rams get comp picks because of it. If the defense crashes and burns Raheem won't get a HC job and they should simply fire him.
I think the Niner D line will destroy the new Ram O line. No running game and Stafford will be under siege all game. Gonna be ugly.

I think we should have an option

It doesn't matter who is QB because Morris will still play his CBs 10 or more yards off the line of scrimmage

This one kind of puzzles me because that defense usually works but not against the whiners because rat boy is content to take 5 yards at a time. I can't recall how many times they had 12+ play drives for touchdowns.

To his credit, Morris tightened up in the NFCCG.

The question I've been saying for a long fucking time is why doesn't he play that way all the time in every game. Conceding FGs is is idiotic. Why does he wait until the opposition is in FG range to tighten up? Because he's scared. God forbid that the defense might give up a big play, but allowing them to march down the field and occasionally score TD's is somehow OK?

If lance is as bad as he was last year, then we might beat them. As it stands I dont think it matters who they start, we are going to lose those games.
