12 PPG, 199 YPG pass against, 6.4 YPA, 73.3 passer rating against, numerous holding and false start penalties against ...

Sacks are overrated, dude. Philip Rivers could only put up 23 points on us minus two CB's. Not getting your point.
QBs play bad when they're scared. They get scared when there's a good pass rush, even if there aren't sacks. They get scared of a good pass rush because they think they might get sacked. If we aren't sacking QBs, there's nothing to be scared of. Non-scared QBs play to their ability. That's bad for us.

If teams start playing us normal, because they don't have to fear the pass rush, because we aren't sacking the QB, then our defensive stats like points allowed will get worse.

We need to sack the QB with enough regularity to cause fear of our pass rush. So far that hasn't been happening. Soon teams will stop calling super short passes (the Chargers started to go deeper in the second half, not all the time, but they started to) and it will be back to business as usual.

so your saying that QBs aren't scared of Suh, AD, or Brockers? that all of a sudden the QB will start taking 7 step drops because of this lack of fear? I really hope your right :mrburnsevil:

Looks like we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. That's all I'm saying is getting to the opponent's QB before he distributes the ball is as important as protecting your own QB.

Lol I mean if they stop calling short passes...what do you think happens? Let's do some critical thinking here. If the ball comes out faster to avoid sacks. What happens when the ball comes out slower? Common sense would tell me I'm gambling on whether Suh and Donald can get to me or not. Considering that they are getting tons of pressure, why the flying f*ck would any coach or player take that risk?

Lol I don't see how people are struggling to figure this out.

So your telling me we should also trade Donald to the Bears because he sucks now?!

Agreed!

Snead will have multiple 6th round picks for the next 10 years! Lol swimmin the 6’n!

Lots of good comments in here folks. Good discussion. Keep in mind we started off alittle slow last year as well.

Like I said, the chargers were about to get off some downfield passes with their backup o line, so it's not impossible.

A few thoughts:
* They're getting held a lot (more than is being called) - so that's a positive in that it derails opponent's drives
* They're still getting pressure - that is a pass rush - also good
* The team is winning

I don't care if they get any sacks... if they're 3 - 0 and the margin of victory is 22 points per game!
1st 3 game stats dont mean anything now that our top 2 CBs are out. Look for the defensive approach to be different. More blitzing, more zone. More scoring from the opponent. The front 7 will have to get sacks. We need more pressure from the outside.
