Well there is that flip side where the NFL also probably doesn't mind someone sitting in that green room long to build drama and suspense. Either way, Simpson will either go in the 1st or 2nd although I don't think he warrants it. 4th round is where I'd be ok with him.
Thank You for making my point LOL. So you think he's Stetson Bennett, Matt Barkley, Davis Webb level. We'll see how it plays. Anyhoo, the Rams are definitely in the "shopping for next Franchise Quarterback after Stafford" business. Whether that's THIS Draft, NEXT Draft, or the year AFTER, we are actively in this mode as Matt can play anywhere from 1 to 3 (or 4?) more years. Im simply in full exploration mode of this prospect, since we may be Drafting from a position of weakness next Draft if Staff WAS to retire (possible) after this season. As the clear QB2 in this Draft he must be fully investigated, and I say at the very least he checks the boxes as a Purdy/Nix type that can drive this operation to high Playoffs like those guys do.

Realistically, you got to figure Simpsons floor is like the first 5 picks Day 2. Could go anywhere from like 10-36 maybe. Although, you never really know. Look at Sanders last year.

Speaking of which, I read that he was offered a green room spot, but he turned it down for his flashy self-promotion purposes. I wonder if that was solely why or if he got some lukewarm responses from NFL teams about being a day 1 pick (didn't seem like it with how he was treating Day 1).

Johnson & Milroe were both invited and went -- and they didn't get picked until 47 and 92, respectively. So invited doesn't perfectly equate to a 1st round selection.
Thats true, i HAVE been assuming Simpson is a Top 35 pick based on his invite alone. Glad you pointed out to me that it doesn't make it a "definite."

I do not think the Rams are taking him. I would not do a victory lap, it would be McVay’s choice, not mine.

I disagree with your assertion that nobody has shit on him. Not gonna post links or prove it, you can scroll through the threads if you like.
Everything will turn out ok Mrs. Simpson.

How would I prove your point if I think he's a 4th round QB? I literally said his ceiling is a backup. That's the earliest I'd draft one.

Well, when you have someone who is one 16 INVITEES to the Draft itself, and people are tagging him "I'd take him in the 6th Round," I'd call that over-the-top disrespect. But all good. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and might be right. I myself see a scenario where Simpson busts, no doubt.
I said I believe he is a back-up QB initially and said I wouldn't take him before the 6th.

That's not shitting on him - that's just my personal belief.

But whatever.

However, I have listened to the many videos and come around to he might be a decent to maybe good QB maybe slim possibility imho of a very good QB but now I don't want him because of his injury history.

If we take him, I will support him just like I supported Bennett. I hated that pick in the 4th round. I would have been okay with him in the 6th round.

And I remember how everyone said Bennett will be an awesome pickup by the Rams. Still waiting on that.

You're proving my point of over-the-top disrespect. But that has to be proven out over time.

No mock Draft in existence had Bennett going in the first 2 days. EVERY mock Draft in existence has Simpson going mainly 1st Round and some 2nd. You dont see the difference?

Honest question - if almost every QB next year is as advertised, where would you draft him.

I am not comparing Simpson to Bennett. I am saying I would support him just like I supported Bennett. That's the only comparison.

I would hate the pick now only because I think he would be a game manager QB who I would not pick in the first or second round (maybe third) and most of ALL - the injury history.

After Arch, and i guess Moore and Carr? Can't give you a fully honest answer as I have not done a deep dive into that class. You understand. I do see a world where I put Simpson ahead of Dante Moore. I definitely put him right in the same category if not ahead of Sellers, Sayin, Mateer, Sorsby and the rest. Maiava, Nico. Can't see a reason not to.

Never meant to imply McShay (or any analyst really) had a 100% record.

Yes or No question: do you trust the opinion of Todd McShay where it comes to Quarterbacks or you dont???
I think he’s better than most but they all get a great many of them wrong. My only point was just because one of these guys touts the flavor of the month in a given draft, it doesn’t mean all that much in the grand scheme of things. They get a lot of them right as far as where they will be picked but even then, most of them don’t pan out the way they think. Gabbert and Quinn are some pretty good examples as were Mayfield and Darnold.

It’s not as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be. I’m just not going to suddenly agree with your projection because someone like McShay or the hair do agree with you.

It’s all good. We are here to debate and part of debate is questioning sources and available information.

If we take Simpson, I hope you and McShay are right.

But when you ask for a link and someone provides that, I would think your response would be more like “huh. I guess he was wrong there but I still think he’s right in this case.” Again, no biggie.

Man....I hope Ty Simpson isn't reading this forum.
He'd put in his retirement papers.

I had a same link that McShay had Stafford having a higher rating than Sanchez. Anyways it was close. Again, no biggie. And we are going back to 2009 to get a bad McShay rank? Don't you think Todd has improved and made keener discernings and fine-tuned his theories since then? I'm not saying he is Gospel, I'm just saying I trust his evaluation on quarterbacks as a consistent viewer of his, way more than Mel's.

I'm ok with McShay. I just don't think there is a lot to like about this QB class and 2nd best in this class doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. That Brady Quinn love is a hard one to get past though. And Weeden? Yikes!

BTW... putting Sanchez above or even in the same class as Matthew Stafford is pretty bad in my eyes. I said back then that I didn't think I had ever seen a more over rated QB coming out of college than Mark Sanchez (another one year guy) and I was a big USC guy back then.
